    Where to for Super Rugby?

On the money Hoggy. No other team in the world play NZ as often as we do. Nevertheless, Ireland and England have both risen to No 1 regardless. SA is/was No 1 after the RWC. It can happen by playing other nations. And winning more than losing. We need fewer tests against NZ and more against...

2020 Super Rugby Round 1 (REDUX): Reds v Waratahs

One game in a bit early to be making some of these calls Q51. Harrison has a fair way to go to displace Lolesio in the race for the 10 jersey, but in any case, Matt To'omua is aalmost certain to have that job this year. Have been a Swinton fan since U20s WC. He likewise has a way to go yet to...

    Shute Shield 2020

Pollard to Gordon is interesting. Has been a requirement for some years that Brumbies squad are aligned with local sides and play for them when not required in Super. Does this mean that Pollard is on his way out of the Brumbies? Or is it a concession due to COVID-19?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

BH, I think this is precisely what a lot of fans here want to see, especially after the poor efforts dished up by SANZAAR over recent years. I wouldn't be averse to a competition that guaranteed an Aussie winner each year and more local derbies, if it can be supplemented by a TT Champions Cup.

2020 Super Rugby Round 1 (REDUX): Brumbies v Rebels

Rebels have been located in Canberra since Friday. Seems they are looking at staying here and playing their home games in Canberra. One way or another I expect the Rebels/Reds game will proceed, just at a different location.

ASY (Angus Scott-Young) at lock would be something like Thorn playing there, I suppose. Could turn out good.

A very promising attacking young player.

    Nz domestic rugby 2020

The weather undoubtedly had an effect, but there was a lot of fairly poor rugby on show today I thought. Some very poor handling on both sides and ill directed passes missing outside support players. Crusaders got there on the back of a 50/50 mid field bomb gone wrong for MacKenzie, and a...

Opportunity for Mac Hanson? Or will Muirhead come in at 15?

    Aussie Player Exodus

I QH, I pretty much agree with your position on the end Super Rugby as we know it, the doubts about the acceptance of a TT to most Aussies due to limited number of games Involving Aussie teams, and a domestic competition being the way forward, I am also put off by the negativity towards...

    Well deserved Marrow. Enjoy.

That surprises me KOB, but I can see your point and it's easy to agree.

    Aussie Player Exodus

If money is a problem (and I agree it is) then find a gimmick to allow RA to fill their coffers like the NZRU was willing to do with the game v the Kangaroos. And imo, if there was ever any intent in the discussions between NZRU and NRL, then I reckon that game would still be on the table. Just...

    Reds 2021

I have no idea about Blake's situation that saw him released on compassionate grounds, but I'm sure there was a reason that satisfied the Brumbies. He wasn't then on contract next year so it stands to reason that he. or his agent, would have been looking for opportunities. Just when does the...

    Waratahs 2020

Don't see Godwin as the answer to the need for a powerful runner to get over the gainline. He is more a sleight of hand, creative player who can set up a runner. Beyond that, he also adopts an expansive kicking game. Those are his strengths that I have seen him play at the Brumbies.

    Waratahs 2020

Probably right Silver. In that case, I will record that I think Pat should have had more opportunities than he has had in recent years.

Didn't I see recently that Pat Sio is turning out for one of the Sydney NRL teams?

    Waratahs 2020

Reg, maybe I should have said "favoured" rather than preferred. Favoured, for whatever reason, and I accept your explanation. My point really was to say that Harris should be ready right now for SRAu.

    Waratahs 2020

Harris was preferred to Wilson at No 8 for the U20s. Wilson has proved to be Super-ready. I see no reason why Harris shouldn't also be ready and why he shouldn't take the starting No 8 spot.

    Nz domestic rugby 2020

And yet they ran the Saders close for, what, 70 - 75 minutes of the game? Admittedly on the back of penalty goals, but the score is what it is.
