    Reds 2021

An under-rated player. Excellent Super starter or bench and a couple (or maybe his only?) of his test efforts in the replays shown lately were really class.

    Waratahs 2021

Best game I saw him play, ever. He did have some quite good outings for the Brumbies too in later games before he went o/s.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think the sentiment still applies though KOB. Why should RA's policy depend on NZ also playing ball. RA can simply say that Aus players in NZ remain Wallaby eligible no matter what NZRU decide to do.

    Waratahs 2020

Ahhh, Now I'll be able to watch the Tahs in a whole different light. My first comment is that I expect them to show improvement over their early season form. Next, if they get Maddocks into the 15 spot, hopefully it changes any inclination he might have had to leave the country.

Otoh, Nock's kicking game was highly impressive. Best I've seen from a No 9 in a long time.

Had Akira gone missing up til then WOB?

    Australian Rugby / RA

QH, I can see that RM might not be all that interested in the detail of RA and rugby in this country, but I'm bloody sure he keeps a close watch on Foxtel. I can imagine at his periodic management meetings Foxtel would be a standing agenda item and even if it only gets a couple of minutes...

    Wallabies 2020

UTG, Blyth is a very promising Lock and will be in the running for the test side this year or next the way established players are heading off o/s. IMO, often stated since the U20s WC in 2018, is that he is a better player than Harry Hockings. However, I cannot agree that Swain rates as not...

Sounds like Rennie is impressed with the coaching and development of the Brumbies forwards. Can't see a place for any 'powder puffs' in a Rennie/McKellar crew.

    2020 crowds and ratings

As I understand the respective competitions, Crashy, the Aus games will be on Friday and Saturday while the NZ games are on Saturday and Sunday. Am I wrong?

Dan, I reckon Goodhue is a far more creative player than ALB who is more a finisher. In my mind, that makes JG the No 12 and ALB the No 13.

2020 Super Rugby Round 1 (REDUX): Reds v Waratahs

Sully, I can remember a time when the Reds would consistently beat the Tahs, even when way below them on the table. All a matter of cycles. Maybe Round 1 will see the start of a new cycle.

With you all the way BH. If it does revert to a scrum, it should be with the defending team's feed.

    Nz domestic rugby 2020

As a mere Aussie rugby fan, far be it for me to comment on how NZ teams and the ABs etc run their show, but I will anyway. I have long believed that ALB is wasted at 12. I reckon he is an out and out No 13 and should be in that spot for the Cheifs and in competition with Rieko for the AB's spot...

But if the players' hearts aren't in it, KOB, there might have been a 'who cares?' attitude with the coach right at the centre of the malcontent.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

RH, you mention above (posts 16142 and 16144) the willingnessof WR (World Rugby) to largelyfinance Argentina and PIs to keep them viable. If RA or rugby generally in Aust were to face financial wipe out, do you not think WR (World Rugby) would be willing to throw some money this way too? I would venture WR (World Rugby) would value Aust...

    Australian Rugby / RA

D, I would think having Johnson as head coach while paying out Cheika's contract would not have been significantly more expensive, if at all, than continuing the way things were. And there would have been a real chance some better player selections, better game strategies and perhaps more...

    Reds 2020

My understanding is that rugby crowds won't be allowed until 10 July or thereabouts. Seems inconsistent with other sports.

    Western Force 2020

That side will be more competitive than many here seem to think. Especially keen to see how FL-W, Ferris and Stander play at Super level.
