Could the argument be made that if the 2018 Quade saga had not happened, neither would have his recent redemption arc? From what I've observed of Quade's footy (and the curated insights into his personality on socials) over those three/four years, I'm of the view that maybe it wouldn't have. By...

Australia v England: Match II @ Suncorp 7.55pm AEST, 09/07

The use of can't and similar phrasing is deliberate and taught to provide an anchor for decision making in the case of uncertainty (obstructed camera angles, simultaneous events, etc.). I much prefer a decision having already being made on field, which is then confirmed, as opposed to open-ended...

Agree with this on giving the head/face a bit of a work over, but the second go he had putting pressure on White's throat/windpipe was pretty poor and would meet my criteria for dangerous.

I wouldn't say it's valid to compare one incident that has a clear yes/no answer (as determined by the ball's position in relation to a physical marker on the field) and another that is much murkier and requires judgement of dynamic movements of multiple players.

For a 50-22 I don’t think it matters where the ruck was technically formed, but that in that phase the ball had travelled over the 50 at some point, and was therefore at some point taken back

I’d agree - however if the wallabies were on the receiving end of a borderline 50-22 that led to a try, no doubt the discussion would be why it wasn’t checked.

I didnt agree with the call live, but had a look at the replay and it was the correct decision. Bell 100% landed with the ball over the 50 before placing it back.

Just watched again and it looks like Bell did initially land with the ball a couple of cm over the 50 before turning and placing it back. I wouldn’t say it’s “clearly taken back” as stated by the TMO, but she would’ve had other angles than those broadcast The previous ruck was also well into...

Agree with this. Had some shocking kicks, but I thought he looked pretty decent ball in hand and taking it to the line - especially for a guy playing out of position and without recent game time or confidence.

I don’t think an injury has been confirmed, but Henry came in for him

Would be a bit of an explanation for the Reds’ lower body injury woes this season too, given the number of dismal days (both training and matches)

https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cfq3NYkq8GH/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= I do like reading into things too much - but in the context of the above, does the tone / way in which this was done by Mafi and Stewart also seem like a bit of a sleight at the Reds?

Yeah, that’s pretty poor - pretty easy to alienate players if you’re not listening to their concerns. Nela’s injury was the Tahs game. I imagine having Magnay and Tuttle at the Rebels would’ve been a drawcard for Mafi as well.

Australia A - Back on the Cards

Sure, but I think we need to ensure we use this opportunity to expand the game’s reach. If there is a second team based in QLD, it would have to be the north and could represent northern Aus (FNQ, NT, north WA). Likewise with a second team based in NSW or Vic team that could encompass SA. I just...

Australia A - Back on the Cards

Absolutely agree that exisiting teams must remain, and we need to be careful not to dilute their support. Purely theorising, but if we’re wanting a domestic comp, why not make it truly national and bring in an Adelaide and/or Darwin based team? As I said, I’m just spitballing and this wouldn’t...

My understanding after a conversation with a referee mate is that for something to be cited on a yellow card, it essentially should’ve been given a red in the match.

Henry was called up nearly 2wks ago, and I'm pretty sure he travelled shortly thereafter.

My heart says that there are absolutely more exciting prospects than Hodge, but my head says his experience, versatility, and stability is probably what is needed in the squad right now.

    Wallabies 2023

Yep - even when he started running more in the second half, there was a bit of concern from the English defence around whether he would kick. At around the 30sec mark in the video @Dctarget linked, you can see Kerevi momentarily shapes to put it on the toe, which stops the English in their...
