Australia A v Japan XV matches

Agreed - the only real attacking chances came from broken play and the occasional overlap out wide

I thought Stewart and Henry were both solid, if a bit quiet (particularly in the first half). Some good runs and strong tackles.

Rory Scott is a ball of energy and noise. It’s wonderful.

Not a box kick all game, and then true to form, Lonergan’s first touch is a boxy

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Bloody daylight savings confusion - I was gearing up for kickoff in 5min, not 65min. Might have to pull back on the beers if I want to get through the full match now

The Roar's article on player eligibility etc. says it will be named Sunday

Will be particularly interesting if both Flook and Henry have strong runs at 13. Could be a nice arm wrestle for 12/13/22 as the season plays out.

    Altrad Corruption Trial

From a rugby perspective, France snatching the '23 World Cup is the shadiest and most unfortunate part of this imo - you have to feel for SA and Ireland. Jersey sponsors and personnel are replaceable - the experience of a World Cup, and everything that comes with it, much less so.

I sometimes seriously wonder whether we watch the same games BR. Stewart consistently impresses as a quiet achiever who puts his head down and gets the job done, and Henry has shown a hard-running, committed style of play in the limited opportunities he's had over the past 12mo. I'm very...

This is my pick of the three lineups we've rolled out - big fan of this team.

    Aussie Player Exodus

He's been in/around the NZ set up for some time to be fair – Chiefs 2018, Blues 2019, Mako 2017-19 and then 2021-now

There's been a bit of talk in other threads about a lack of quality options at 13 - just saw that Levi Aumua has been named in the All Blacks XV squad and has been tearing up for the Mako. One that got away?

From what I recall, most of Vunivalu's few runs/metres on Saturday came closer in field, and I recall seeing him off his wing quite a bit. I'm not sure it's fair to imply he wasn't looking for work.

Massive shame - surely we can't have an injury toll like '22 again  I have Sef above Zander in my mind. How did both perform yesterday?

    Holy hell. Shambles

Australia A v Japan XV matches

I’ve only had one eye on most of the match, but Vunivalu’s defence has seemed solid at least (again, from the bits I’ve seen)

The Japanese 9 Saito is rapid - really noticeable difference to Lonergan

Forgive me if this has been shared before, but I hadn't seen it - could be interesting viewing. Given that it's been developed and distributed by Fox, the cynic in me thinks it could be quite scathing...
