Yep, undoubtedly. If it was reviewed, I think the debate would have been over whether that was the initial contact, or whether it was chest-to-shoulder first, which could've mitigated it down to a penalty or nothing at all. Hard to tell from the TV angle, and obviously the broadcaster made sure...

Fair point. Kuenzle, being in Perth, is closer than Henry too.

iirc, Rennie was pretty adamant they wouldn't rush Beale onto the spring tour. You'd think Stewart would be next in line, but Henry has quite a bit of recent game time at 12 and 13 under his belt between Aus A and Reds Japan tours.

3:32 in below: Can understand why it wasn't called, but would also understand if it was called back. Not sure it'd be for a swinging arm, but initial contact - which is either chest-to-shoulder or bicep-to-head depending on how you look at it. Play on imo

I think commentary said it was Valetini that got pinged, but I believe Jaco clarified with TMO and said it was Neville

This is a joke, right? RIGHT?

Both of them should have made the tackle. Giving Wright a pass because it was a “difficult tackle against a dangerous ball runner”, but not Campbell, is hypocritical. I’d argue Wright’s was the easier tackle, anyway.

In Campbell’s defence, anyone who has played in the outside backs would understand how difficult that tackle is against a dangerous ballrunner

The double whistle blow and bit of confusion before halftime makes it seem like they checked it and were going to officially review, but the conversion had already been taken. Should've been quicker

The Wallabies didn't play well enough to almost win; France played poorly enough to almost lose

Less a size/physicality issue and more covering tackle technique for mine - let's be real, most of our outside backs are probably making a similar attempt at that tackle. Thought Campbell tackled well and held his own in rucks the rest of the time. White did play well. His service was good and...

That offload to get the Foketi try was a prime example of Foley’s game - panic play that sometimes pays off, and sometimes doesn’t. The offload was juggled and so nearly put down (by Ikitau?), which would’ve been either a French try or 5m scrum.

Assuming Noah gets a run next week, I’m praying he shows the fuck up

Wasn’t a comment about Foley (I don’t back him as the 10), just the position of flyhalf itself

In that instance Wright is off for Hodge, who makes the tackle on Penaud and the Wobs hold on :D whataboutisms can work both ways Regardless, we needed consistency and calm to hold on in the last 10 - subbing off essentially the glue of the team doesn’t achieve that, even if Hodge did nothing...

You’re right in that it probably didn’t in the end, but I just don’t see how taking off your key playmaker, for someone who is not a playmaker, is wise in a close contest. The points others have made re: Hodge’s stronger tackling and kicking ability make sense, but I still wouldn’t be pulling...

Obviously we can never know, but holding off on Jock until he got a good amount of Aus A experience might've been a masterstroke

Put him on for Wright then - even for all his indiscretions, taking Foley off was daft

Who was captain for the final 15 when Slipper and White were off? FF (Folau Fainga'a)?

Literally losing the game at the breakdown is apt
