Jackalling , should it be outlawed

Definitely a tricky one - without a doubt jackallers are in a very vulnerable position, and there's probably not much more that can be done to limit this. On the other hand, there is an inherent risk associated with incentivising rucking and higher-intensity collisions over the ball too. I'm...

Wallabies v Scotland, Murrayfield, Sun 30th Oct, 3.30am AEDT

His grubbers behind the line are so very often a genuine chance. There was a period (I think 2021 for the Reds) where he was doing a few too many, but he's reined it in again and they're threatening. Underrated string to his bow imo.

    Reds 2023

For a casual (non-Reds) supporter, who doesn't follow the game and players to the same extent as many here, it would could be their first time paying proper attention to Campbell. I can understand it from that perspective, as with any other player on debut. It's also probably not helped by the...

Wallabies v France, Paris, Sun 6th Nov 7am AEDT

Could be wrong, but it looked to me like he came off after the trainers had left the field, implying it wasn't their directive and was just a routine sub.

Pearce's communication, both when making/explaining decisions and during general play, was outstanding.

    Wallabies 2023

No doubt, and I should've clarified that's half what I meant by 'obligations', but naming a number (especially an optimistic one) is not only digging yourself a hole, it's marking it with orange paint and preparing the inscription for the headstone. If 3/5 is the publicly stated pass mark -...

    Wallabies 2023

I understand his obligations from a PR perspective, but he probably shouldn't have put a number on it really. Could've said something along the lines of 'we aim to and believe we can win every game we play'; but there's something to be said for realistic goals and expectations, and 3/5 is...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

It's been confirmed by Paul Green's family that he was suffering from advanced CTE. Another tragic instance to add to the list. Again, it's worth praising his family for donating his brain, and the Australian Sports Brain Bank for the work that they do.

My memory may be failing me, but didn't we do just that and play Grealy at fullback and Petaia on the wing in a game or two last season?

Ah, that's the one. Even worse

Struth. Today was only the first day of camp too I think?

    Reds 2023

He also has shown that, on the wing for both the Reds and Wallabies, he can consistently get over the try line if the opportunity presents itself

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Yep, he'll need a few things to fall his way, but given what we've seen this year, I'm not sure it's that unlikely. If he stays fit and has a decent Super season, I imagine his versatility and past experience at the big dance will be viewed favourably by selectors.

I hate to say it, but I think Beale will go as well

The stats from TRC, across basically all metrics, actually favour Petaia once you factor in minutes played. Aside from discipline, the biggest difference is in number of passes, which is mostly explained by Wright's games at fullback.

    Reds 2023

Good callout, but I wonder if Henry's kicking load will be managed a bit for a while with his series of lower-limb injuries. I don't think he did any of the place kicking in his games for Wests and Aus A.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Incumbency / desire to persist would likely put Petaia above Pietsch and Nawaqanitawase, if not Wright.
