    Ireland v Australia

I sincerely hope you are right Biffo. A win will put us back on track and quieten the naysayers. This is our strongest starting side of the tour so far with a halfway potent bench.

If you think about it there was not too many fit people to bring. We have our 3rd, 5th and 6th string hookers. We have a couple of backrowers that are way down the pecking order in McMahon and Schatz. Many tag Skelton as a potential starter and Jones is borderline. Godwin and English are there...

    Ireland v Australia

I don't think Ireland have the scrum to trouble us too much. I might be concerned next week if Skelton is there. He will be fine.
  4. Joe Blow

    Ireland v Australia

No, he has game and offers a point of difference. Over time he will become very good. Cameos off the bench are probably good for him at this point.

Simmons and Carter are both 80 minute players if need be. I doubt we will see Skelton till after 60 minutes, except with an injury. The Irish have made no secret about employing the rolling maul. I think we have defended it well this year but if they do start getting it going we can always...

I think Alexander is a very serviceable bench prop. He offers a high workrate at the back end of games and is very experienced. It will be interesting to see how Faulkner goes at TH. I guess this is the best test to trial him there. Not sure if you want a pot plant in the last 15 minutes. I am...

    Ireland v Australia

We are going to see Faulkner at TH. Sweet. KB (Kurtley Beale) to spell Izzy as early as possible.

    Ireland v Australia

Could easily have left Hodgo on the bench to finish out the game. Ireland are pretty handy at the breakdown and we have gone from three small blokes in the 23 to only one specialist 7 who's not really known as an on the baller. Mind, the added size will help our set piece and line out. Jones...

Then throw TPN and Squeaky Moore into the front row and our pack looks very good

Next year hopefully we have all three of Palu, McCalman and Higgers fit to play at 8. Our best back row so far this year was in the last Bled. Fardy, Hooper and Higgers. Throw Pocock into the mix with all of those blokes and Hooper and we have some excellent options in the back row.

If that is the side then Cheika is not exactly going crazy with selections giving other squad members a run.
  12. Joe Blow

    Ireland v Australia

I reckon we can take them with that side. Interesting to see how Jones goes. He should be fired up and hopefully will be more composed than the last time out.
  13. Joe Blow

    Ireland v Australia

Can't have everything I guess but hopefully he will get a lot of minutes with Phipps
  14. Joe Blow

    Ireland v Australia

He is a proven test standard back three player. One of your wingers needs to almost be a fullback these days.

To'omua has shown plenty of attacking nous along with some serious defensive ability. Add to that a pretty good kicking game. We cannot have a backline full of only attack minded players. Like a decent forward pack it must have balance. To'omua in-between Cooper and TK just makes sense.

    Ireland v Australia

Too small for a 10-12 these days. I would select QC (Quade Cooper) at 10 with To'omua at 12 and Foley on the bench. Foley-Cooper will attract a lot of attention down that channel
  17. Joe Blow

    Ireland v Australia

We need to start Cooper with Phipps if we really want to see what he can do. With quick ball and more time QC (Quade Cooper) can be devastating. He has the best "vision" of any of our inside backs and can see opportunities to exploit, sometimes phases ahead. Where Foley feeds his runners and hopes they break...

    Ireland v Australia

I hesitate to do it but I will weigh in on The McMenimen debate. He never made it at test level because his body position was terrible. I remember well watching him taking the ball forward upright and being easily picked off. Add to that the fact that he was a penalty magnet and injured more...
  19. Joe Blow

    France v Australia

I thought that was probably Simmons best test for the Wallabies. He carried the ball often and with authority. He hit a lot of rucks and made a few tackles. If he can increase the physicality in his game he will be our world class lock. He's the closest one and most top line locks take a while...

I tend to agree with that Scrubber. Two games in two weeks then everyone gets a break. It would be great to do well in these tests. The tinkering should be more for Cheika to see what he's got in his stable. Cooper, Speight, Jones etc should get some game time. I think he knows what KB (Kurtley Beale) offers as...
