Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Palu has shouldered the load from an under performing tight 5 for the majority of his career. He does the unseen in-tight work well and does have a high work rate. Thats great but certainly not ideal for an 8 man. He basically plays as an extra lock. We are now getting a tight 5 together that...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

How has that worked out for them, particularly against the Darkness and the Boks?

I would also start Higgers at 8 and Pocock at 7. This would give us top class targets in Simmons, Fardy and Higgers with Skelton as an option every now and then at the front. Pocock could be at the back. Jones and Hooper on the bench to cover the back 5.

if we are serious about challenging for this thing

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

People who are suggesting that Simmons is not a certainty and that Jones or Dennis or Higgers could do the same job at test level must be joking. We will need to try and get parity at scrum time and look to have an advantage most of the time in the lineout, otherwise we will be living(and dying)...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Lets have a look at him in his first test before we start lining him up to be selected for the Wallabies while playing in Europe down the track. I think he has great potential. Arnold also really looked the goods on the weekend for the Brumbies. Why do they pull him so early?

I thought Kerevi, Liam Gill and Hanson all put their hands up. Imagine a midfield of Kerevi and TK. Then all we need is QC (Quade Cooper) in some sort of form to put them in holes. Foley could do the same. Simmons looked pretty good too. Interesting that he was handed the captaincy when Slipper left the field.

He also showed a lack of commitment on a couple of occasions when he stood there and watched a Sharks player pinch the ball. Rather than dive on it to secure it he appealed to the ref for an offside by throwing his arms in the air. Play the ball not the ref.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Absolutely, but he also has to want it. Someone mentioned that not many people could have scored that try. Could he and others have scored the one Drew Mitchell did in the European cup final? Maybe, maybe not. He(Naiyo) could also prove to be a real defensive liability and be targeted in test...

It's a bit ripe that he has thrown down the ultimatum. "Cap me or I'm gone" He will be capped if and when it happens. Let him go.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Higgers did not fall to pieces. It just was not their night. He was right there Agree Gill was again mammoth. I would pick him at 6 ahead of McMahon but am skeptical of having all 3 of him, Hooper and Pocock in the squad. Reid and Fainga'a were outstanding the previous week and he schooled both...

    Reds v Rebels Rd 14, 2015

But he has been playing better than McMahon and any other 6s outside of possibly Fardy. He certainly gave Reid, McMahon and Fainga'a a lesson last night.

Gill showed again that he should take that last back row spot if we are not worried about height. He had such an influence on that game and is a proven performer at the highest level. He carries the ball well now and imposes himself on the game in every aspect.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Considering Cheika got on the plane after the pre-selected squad last year for the EOYT it is no surprise that we/he are/is not settled on a starting XV. The inside backs pretty much select themselves but the make up of the back 5 in the forwards is interesting and will depend on what Cheika is...

Except for the fact that they lost both games, one due to a missed conversion attempt by him from directly in front. I would have Cooper and Giteau ahead of Lilo for the back up 10 spot right now.

Is Smith eligible for the Wallabies?

    Rebels 2015

Was a great performance by the Rebs on the weekend. Cheka is probably looking at a few of their forwards as potential bolters for his RWC squad. Toby Smith and PAE were both excellent at the set piece and around the park. They need a couple of big back rowers for next year though with...

Looks like he was injured on the weekend. Any word on that?

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Agree that it will be the forwards that have the most to do with it but just about every RWC winner has had a special player at 10.

We could do worse but it's also unlikely that he will take us to the RWC final.
