SupeRugby Final 2011: Queensland Reds V Canterbury Crusaders

I remember speaking to Simon Beazley (former VFL/AFL player turned bookie) a few years back and while he was fairly cagey, he talked about all these different factors that he takes into consideration in setting odds. I was quite surprised by it as for horse racing at least it I thought it was...

Aren't there the OZ Womens final on in Brissy today also. Heard ACT was in the final?

Betting odds aren't just about form, it's also about reputation, how much people have betted on one side, what the objectives of the betting agency were in setting the odds etc etc. IMO (and I'm not a betting man myself), but odds mean nothing....unless you're a sub-continent or Aussie...

He's not a journo, he's Chris Rattue... NZ's version of a sports shock jock that is there to wind up all and sundry. There wouldn't be too many Saders supporters that would be sitting back reading that and thinking "all is sweet as this Saturday".

Just indicating that others didn't share his view of the post-game interview, no name calling, no high-horse, no trolling I would think, unless the mods think differently.

Gee don't they come out of the woodwork. Is the Planet Rugby site down?? If you're serious... http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/forum/threads/7974-Reds-v.-Crusaders-May-29th-Suncorp-2011R15?p=242358&viewfull=1#post242358

I get it now, this is one of those "I told you so's". Every time the ref makes a call YOU don't agree with there will be an I told you so post from rsea. To borrow a phrase from one of your earlier posts when you questioned Slim - you're making some pretty big assumptions

Get onboard Slim, its sometimes an up and down ride, but there are way more ups than downs :)

These calls of biased referee's is a massive insult to referees IMO. There is absolutely no proof whatsoever, no 'statistics', that back up these claims. Personally I couldn't care less about who the ref is, where he comes from within SANZAR, he's not the main attraction here. For what it's...

    Semifinal 1: Reds V Blues

If he is fit that is. Looked like he was clearly not 100%. That jogging down the left wing was very strange almost waiting to be tackled. Should have backed himself unless the hamstring is still very tender

2011 S15 Semi Stormers vs Saders @ Newlands

Which is great, and well done to the rehab team. But I don't underestimate the amount of luck (or lack of) when it comes to injuries. As far as this game I'm really hoping our 10-12-13 can really put pressure on the fringe defense of the Stormers

    I don't think Wellington can fit 52000....

2011 S15 Semi Stormers vs Saders @ Newlands

It's been up and down throughout the season though with some of our "stars". We've had Carter and McCaw out in stages due to injury. Sam Whitelock injured. Brad Thorn was out for a few weeks. Maitland and Dagg after both were in very good form. Ellis who was having his best season then got...

    Super 15 XV

I'd have Thompson at 6 even if he dropped off towards the end of the season after he came back from injury. IMO he was the standout player in the whole competition for the first 5 rounds of the comp. I don't think there are many if any other player that was such a standout over an equivalent period.

    tahs turnaround

I agree with this. The irony I see is that it's the "good" players from the Tahs that I see do these things. I don't know how many times over the last two or so years I've seen the likes of Beale, Mitchell, Burgess, Barnes do silly things in attack that makes me (as a rugby fan) scratch my head...

    vickerman vs michalak

He won't be able to play hooker at scrum time, however that does not preclude him from throwing in if need be. Will be interesting if it does come to that.

    Wallabies Trinations Squad

From my armchair Slipper looks suspect on the LH side at scrum time the little I've seen him on that side. I do like his workrate though and is probably the most active at ruck time and around the park of the 4 fatties you've named.
