Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

The new caps will be coming off the bench I would think for the most part. Then there is the 9-10 axis to sort out, the second and back rows and the wingers. Cheika is going to have to have a look at some of the new blokes as well. PAE, Coleman, Arnold, Hunt etc if they make the squad.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

He really seemed to lack confidence in those last few games for the Reds. He was indecisive and made a lot of errors. If Cheika can turn that around then all power to him. The Reds are now a very pale imitation of their former selves. It will be interesting to see what Cheika and Larkham can...

So why was McCalman included? I don't think Cheika feels Timpani is ripe just yet. We will see him on the EOYT I suspect.

Holmes worked him over pretty well. Sio and Smith are able and willing. Slipper will be there of course but Cheika will need to manage him. He hasn't had the best year. I thought Palu was a standout last night. He also is only good for 40 solid minutes but it was nice to see him so involved...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I think he will be a regular Wallaby member, probably as an 8 or a back row utility?

He was very average in the tests. Great in the Baa Baas game mind. He just doesn't have the size to be a top line test 6. He is very physical and busy but just too small. He was snapped up by McKenzie last year as pretty much the last decent 6 standing for the spring tour. We don't have that...

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

It was tough to watch after the first 15 minutes as the Baby Boks were just bigger and stronger by such a huge margin. Our boys looked like boys whereby the BBs were well and truly full grown and developed beasts. Do the other U20 sides present the same way?

What reason could there be for saying anything regarding the captaincy? Both will be in the leadership group if fit.

I would have Moore as captain with Hooper and Pocock his deputies. At least one of them will always be on the park. Hooper has done an admirable job and his captaincy tenure will come, but lets face it, he was the last man standing last year and he does not have the experience of Moore or Pocock.

When and where? edit - Yes, I see it. Has to be Moore you would think otherwise he will be tied down to starting Hooper in most games.

I'm not a huge fan of Dennis at test level because previously he was unable to transfer his Super form to test footy where the opposition are bigger, stronger and faster. That's not to say that he has not improved in these areas, but the more intense physicality was his problem in the past. A...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

It will be very interesting to see Cheikas first squad picked. If we go to the RWC with a similar squad to that which went on the EOYT we may as well not turn up. He is going to need players that can impose themselves on the game at the highest level against the best in the world. There are...

I think we are being a little harsh on Fardy. He is playing well without standing out. He is doing the tough yards and has a pretty well rounded game. I reckon he will be Cheikas starting 6 at this stage. He is probably the only locked in backrower right now.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

The Cheetahs Tahs game tonight was played at an electric pace which really puts Palu out of his comfort zone. He made a few errors that were down to the pace of the game, and as we know, test rugby is quicker again. Only one of McCalman or Palu should go. They really offer very similar skill...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I don't think JOC (James O'Connor) is a first choice outside back or a first choice reserve. I imagine that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) will prove to be the first choice bench back as long as he is not required at 13 to start. The out and out wingers on Aussie soil are going pretty well and JOC (James O'Connor) is a fair way down the pecking order and...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Never say never Querty. Remember our long injury list last year with hookers? God forbid if we see anything like that again soon but it is mildly reassuring that one George Smith is ready and available if need be. Should one of our two opensides get injured during the RWC he will be right there...

    Brumbies v Bulls - Rd 16, 29 May 2015

He was hooking and slicing every kick??

The Brumbies have been pulling Arnold at around the 40-50 minute mark and he appeared to struggle last night when he had to play on after Carters injury. I don't think he is ready - same as Skelton last year. Could be an opportunity for Coleman?

Yes. He had another very good game and was particularly strong in the air under pressure. Speight also showed what he has scoring two tries and playing a solid game all around. Plenty of healthy competition for the Wallaby wing spots:)

I don't advocate a back row full of XFACTA, but there needs to be balance and several options. Hooper offers good xfacta and is a running option and I would not start he and Higgers together. However if Pocock and Fardy start then I would go with Higgers. There doesn't seem much point taking...
