    Western Force 2014

We don't really need more outside backs. We have 14 in our squad already and 2 more in the EPS. It would've been nice to have a guy like Rob Horne, who I reckon will be wasted at the Tahs next season, but we'd probably be better off with another backrower. It'd be great to have a beast of a man...

    Rebels 2014

Last time I looked Australia and New Zealand still had Australia 'A' and the Junior All Blacks listed as their second senior team. Other teams (e.g. France) had opted for their U20 side to be their second senior team, but Australia and New Zealand hadn't. This is despite the fact that Australia...

    Western Force 2014

I think that the Force have lured a number of South Africans over for the wider training squad. There was talk of centre Bradley Moolman coming over. There was also talk of a couple of others like Dillyn Leyds (his name makes him sound like a bogan).

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

Haha. My bad. I meant plays born in 1994.

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

I think you are mistaken. Players born in 2014 are eligible. There might be others, but that means that Luke Burton and Brad Lacey will both be eligible for the U20s next year. I'd wager Corey Thomas who is a lock in the Force academy might get a look in too. He was in the extended training...

    Brumbies 2014

Injuries certainly haven't helped. He got a run under Richard Graham but did not impress. I thought he had a fair bit of potential but I wouldn't say I'm sorry to see him go- unless he has a breakout season with the Brumbies. Looks like they aren't that sold on him if it is only a one year deal.

    Rebels 2014

Ben Meehan was in the Australian U20s this year. He seemed like a really mixed player. Some flashes of great play and some pretty dreadful play. I was a bit surprised he wasn't dropped after a few of the games, but we do seem to be a bit short on talented 9s in Aussie rugby. Pretty sure he is a...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

Maybe mix you and TOCC's ideas a bit. Three cards (White/Yellow/Red or similar variant). White = 5 minutes, Yellow = 10 minutes, Red = Rest of the game. A second white card for a player equals a yellow. Or maybe it would be better if white carded players can return to the field after five...

    Western Force 2014

I don't think you could go too far wrong with a backrow of McMeniman/Hodgson or Alcock/McCalman. On the wrecking ball front, I really liked the looks of Scott Sio's younger brother Pat in the U20s. He will probably get a bit bigger, but he seemed to use the weight he has pretty well.

All Blacks v Wallabies, Dunedin, 19th October 2013

Australians might find Hansen's quip funny because he talks a lot about "Injections" and "Confidence coming out of the mouth". Very Freudian. Clearly there is something deep and unresolved going on there.

    Pumas v Wallabies, Rosario, 5th October 2013

Don't underestimate AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)'s leadership skills either. Wait until Tomane plays two or three more games like the one he played on Sunday before you continue squawking Mudskipper.

    Rebels 2014

To be fair, most of the criticism laid on Mumm was for his Wallabies performances. He always seemed to do pretty well at the Waratahs. Barnes was the complete opposite. You'd be better off chasing Mark Chisholm.

    Good Refs and Bad Refs

The Wallabies have a very, very good win record under Wayne Barnes- last weekend just reaffirmed why we like him. I think he had a good game against the Argies and generally made good decisions. I think Argies could consider themselves unlucky not to have gotten the penalty try, but likewise...

    Pumas v Wallabies, Rosario, 5th October 2013

Absolutely. But I reckon it is more than that. The Wallabies have had a pretty bloody good track record when it comes to dangerous play and that something to be proud of. We have never had players of the likes of Schalk Burger, Dylan Hartley and Ma'a Nonu. Although Rob Simmons is starting down...

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

I'm pretty sure UWA has the money to back a team. There are 10 teams in the Perth Premier Grade comp and half of them are a stones throw away from UWA. It would work well if UWA were keen and I imagine they would be. The downside for Melbourne and Perth is that we don't contribute a lot of...

    Western Force 2014

If JOC (James O'Connor) wants to play in the 2015 World Cup, he needs to play in the 2015 Super Rugby series. He would also be doing himself a big favour by playing for the Wallabies in 2014 while the RWC squad is being shortlisted. At this point, the most sensible option appears to be: Try to get a short term...

    Springboks v Wallabies, Newlands, September 28 2013

Jannie du Plessis has a history of pushing the boundary very, very fine- see crocodile roll tackle on David Pocock in 2011. There are handfuls of other similar events. If he doesn't want to get a reputation of being a complete dickhead- see Schalk Burger- he had better get his shit together and...

    Brumbies 2014

Julia copped it from all sides for 3 years and held it together. The Wallabies could use some of her mental toughness.

    Wendell Sailor and the ARU

Wendell's a dick. To me, that bit about comparing Rugby to AFL says that he doesn't think he did the wrong thing. I think he thinks the three strikes and your out policy is a better one. It just goes to show how clueless he is about the whole situation. What a melodrama. I don't think he...

    Jake White Quits Brumbies

Yeah life would suck if you got lumped with only one of the most successful Super Rugby coaches. You could do a lot worse. Like Pieter de Villiers. Or Richard Graham.
