3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I reckon that'd be a pretty conservative estimate. I'd be surprised if 50% or more of each squad (Rebels, Brumbies and Force teams included) being made up of EPS, Wider Training or Club players. Where is the money coming from to pay for them? I think the point of the competition is that, yes...

    Rebels 2014

If he's smart, he'll keep his options open, which would mean at least a 1 year extension at the Rebels. The Rebels are likely to offer him more cash then any NZ franchise and guarantee him a start. After that year if he is too good to pass up, the Kiwis will probably chase hard to get him back...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I can't remember enough of it to repeat, but TOCC gave a convincing argument for why the Gold Coast wouldn't work. It would be interesting to see the kind of legs that an Adelaide bid gets. If you had 4 Sydney teams, perhaps the Force/Rebels/Brumbies lending a few players to an Adelaide team...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

That's a big fuck you to Rugby Union. Seems like he'll play any other sport but ours.

The Impending Beale vs Folau vs Cooper debate

$50 says one of Foley, Beale and Folau is injured at the start of the season and Folau does not start a single game at 13 all season.

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I can't speak for the Rebels, but the Force have 15 players whose contracts end in 2014. Those players Foles doesn't want to keep won't be playing in the NRC. Minus those with season ending/extended injuries. Minus those, as you said, on National Duty. Minus those who request playing for a team...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I don't think you quite get it. Your aims and the aims of your boss are probably very different. He wants maximum output from you. You want the minimum required output so that you can spend time with family/rugby/beer. He needs to set goals for you in order to negotiate the fact that you have...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I know you are not being critical. I am just saying that, in a world where Super Rugby doesn't exist and performance does not affect revenue, WA and VIC would roll out entirely local teams. We do not need pressure and goals. We have placed them for ourselves. It is not a negotiation. The...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Don't put a timeline on it. It is insulting. No-one in Victoria or WA wants to be bringing in players from NSW or QLD. But this comes in direct conflict with both VIC and WA's need to be successful at Super Rugby level to survive as sporting franchises. Where there are appropriately...

    Brumbies 2014

The heat is on Lealiifano wherever he goes. Cooper is currently a lock at 10 and there is stiff competition from Bernard Foley as number 2. To'omua looked better at 12 than Lealiifano did, although Lealiifano's game against Wales was good. I personally think Godwin is better than both of...

Wallabies: Looking to the World Cup...

100% agree. Given the timing of the new NRC, it will only benefit 19 year olds who will be eligible for the U20s the following year. The U20s are typically in July. The NRC is after that. The JWC U20s did not start until 2008 and we still had U/!9 World Championships back in 2007. Looking...

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

That is an assumption. They let Alby Mathewson go back last season. I have no idea whether Force players originally from NSW or QLD will be allowed to return to their original states. I imagine it will be considered on a case by case basis.

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

Sure there will be a bit of sameness but I don't think it will be the same sides. In the Force's case, we'll hopefully have a couple of players with the Wallabies (Cummins, maybe Godwin, maybe McCalman, maybe McMeniman), we'll have a couple that will probably be released to play in their home...

    Wales v Wallabies, Cardiff, Nov 30 2013

Adam Jones. The single most important player to Wales' plans to beat the Wallabies in the RWC. The step down from AJ to Wales' next best tighthead is huge. When AJ is on the park, our scrum is under pressure. When he isn't, the ledger is roughly even. Halfpenny and Warrenball aren't our...

Ben Mowen survives alleged mutiny plot.........

Canberra should set up an adult film industry. Plenty of wankers on Capital Hill.

    Waratahs 2014

But then what do you do with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)? How do you know that Cheika won't put Foley in at 12 and KB (Kurtley Beale) at 10?

Ben Mowen survives alleged mutiny plot.........

Is that like how the ACT wants to be a state but the rest of the country wishes it would just choke to death in a pit of it's own filth? :)

The Impending Beale vs Folau vs Cooper debate

I wonder how Beale would go on the wing. He made his Wallabies debut there IIRC.

    Wales v Wallabies, Cardiff, Nov 30 2013

I'd have thought it was mostly experience related. David Pocock used to say that it took him a while to work out which breakdowns to attack and which to leave. He said at first he was like a terrier trying to get into all of them until he worked out that this wasn't the best way. I imagine...

The Impending Beale vs Folau vs Cooper debate

If Speight is available, I'd consider dropping AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to the bench and having Cummins on the other wing. Beale and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) can cover all positions from the bench. If Godwin puts in another season like his last, I think To'omua's position will be looking a little unsafe too.
