    Kangaroos Vs Wallabies

This very similar to the "if you believe in evolution, you must be saying an ape is your great-great-etc-father" nonsense. BTW Sydney University claims 1863 is the date rugby was first played in Oz.

    Kangaroos Vs Wallabies

That's a bit of AFL propaganda, I reckon.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I have said it before, there is a hard core of Foxtel viewers who like the convenience and can afford to pay for it. Hopefully, a fair swag of those are rah rahs.

    Kangaroos Vs Wallabies

An old friend of mine who played a bit of VFL told me that the balls are very different. Maybe skills in kicking one do not translate to skills in kicking the other. Mick Byrne did not seem to make a huge difference to our kickers' ability. On the other hand, it is clear that Australian...

    Australian Rugby / RA

There is a story in the SMH this morning saying that the players' union are in talks with RA. Why be surprised that something as potentially sensitive as this is being handled behind closed doors? We would all like to know what is going on, but what most of us want above all is for the...

    Kangaroos Vs Wallabies

Folau was a failure on the field, Hunt was not all that much better. Alex Jesaulenko, one of very greatest of all time in the VFL, played rugby in Canberra as well as the Australian game. A lot of kids in the Riverina grew up playing both codes.

    Kangaroos Vs Wallabies

And we would have to be a lot fitter, they run huge distances every game. But cannot imagine many of them being able or willing to play any kind of rugby, frankly. That said, there have been a lot of tough, strong, hombres over the years. Leigh Matthews could have been a Wallaby 12, for sure.

    Kangaroos Vs Wallabies

Depowering the scrum would take a lot of our "rugby" advantage away. Has anybody mentioned the vast differences in tackling techniques, particularly the wrestling holds that the leaguies have perfected and use all the time? Would they be depowered?

    Kangaroos Vs Wallabies

Okay. As long as we play soccer with a rugby ball in one half, and rugby with a soccer ball in the other.

    Kangaroos Vs Wallabies

There's a good reason why it might be appealing as a game between amateurs, as in that schools fixture. Not least because some of the players will have experience playing the other code, plus they are not playing for cattle stations, just for fun. It would be a totally different situation...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Those of us who were watching Kurtley way back when thought that he would be a superstar. I had a private bet with myself that he would make the 2007 RWC squad!! He has had some career highlights, but nothing like a Dan Carter, for example. Or lots of other great players. Some...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Kurtley was playing First XV at the age of 15 or so? Sounds as though he did not really go through the right sort of development arc, his strengths were so prodigious that they masked his weaknesses.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

With the best will in the world, I cannot imagine Kurtley ever being in huge demand in the other code. Just his crappy tackling alone would rule him out.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Sad but true. Thorn seems to have made some pretty good decisions. Quade was capable of doing things with the ball that I have never seen any other player come close to emulating. Unfortunately, his judgement was awry, and he sometimes chose the wrong option, or the right option at the wrong...

Just like the little girl with a curl right in the middle of her forehead. When he was good he was very, very, good, when he was bad he was horrid!!!

    Waratahs 2020

Gee they have produced some big, mobile packs in recent seasons, gave the Woodies plenty of spankings.

    Reds 2020

He has been the fulcrum of the team's attack. Thorn has put a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. Frankly, it seems to me that the backline has to fit into his presence, rather than the other way around. BTW, all the young players will learn a heap from JOC (James O'Connor).
