Would it be a better sign if McLean said she has "the half-hearted support of the board"? Or if he refused to comment? What nonsense.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Ehhhh? Nobody has ever been happy about having to pay money to that weirdo. What has that got with the price of fish? The court order transcends other expenditures, unless RA wants to spend even more money on his case. You might as well argue that the players are not happy that RA...

Believe it or not Believe it or not, the Board sets the CEO's remuneration, so save your righteous anger for them.

Any separation of responsibilities like this will probably increase overheads to some extent? (Assuming that there are some economies of scale in having certain functions centrally managed?)

Wokeness? Really? Are you talking about the significant increase in the participation by women? Maybe you should have a look at the composition of the Board over the last few years; anybody with a brain knows that this the game has benefited enormously from its move into the modern world as it...

By definition, the only person who would take it on would be a masochist with a large private income. Or a selfless rugby fanatic. Or a narcissist. I think I know which category Kearns fits into.

Too many head knocks, poor old Bob.

    Tom Lawton was pretty handy.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Asia is fertile ground, and it will happily consume an awful lot of fertiliser. I know I am out of date, don't know what I am talking about etc etc, ad infinitum, but I am remain certain that the sport of rugby will not thrive in Asia. Yes there will be pockets of popularity, and times of...

Get the balance right: retain the best of what we have, and introduce innovations gradually, in a planned and thoughtful manner. It is no use pretending that we can build on traditions, apart from our domestic club competitions, and the Wallabies, and to some limited extent, the NSW and...

About all I can remember know is that my buddy in Hong Kong, himself a pretty good sportsman, did a fiendishly good impersonation of the commentators. Needless to say he was a Pom, almost shat himself with joy, the bugger.

I was living in Hong Kong at the time, the only way that I could stay in touch with the game was courtesy of shortwave: Radio New Zealand. Fark it was totally soul-destroying. We really had the series in the bag.

Bugger me. Eddie's not old. I'm old!!! BTW talking about the old blokes, there is a very amusing incident involving Greg Martin and David Campese which lost us the Third Test against the British Lions in 1989. Easy to find if you look. Mind you, it was not funny at the time.

    Super Rugby positivity thread.

Well, it looks doomed now. But I remember when it burst onto our screens, opening a whole new world of wonderful rugby. We went from being able to watch a bit of club rugby, to basking every week in the best talent from New Zealand (in particular), South Africa as well as here at home...

And their CEO is an Aussie. Brett Gosper. Inconvenient facts, eh?

Might as well burn the whole place down, eh? That will make some people very, very happy.

:D:D:D Not Taren Point High, surely?????:) Incidentally, my knowledge of the private school system is a bit biased. The year that I was accepted for Fort Street, two of my neighbourhood pals missed out. Their families sent them to Trinity as the next best choice. Mind you, back then...

    Yep. Nothing good, anyway.

I have been mulling this over a bit. I thought Shore was the centre of influence? Or King's? I had a bit of a think. Are you referring to Chairmen of RA? Cameron Clyne went to St Dominic's at Penrith. Peter Cosgrove went to Waverley. Ronnie Graham went to Taren Point High. JON, probably the most...
