    Reds V Sharks - Round 13

some nice defence from cooper in that first half. When he pulls his finger out he can actually pull out some decent hits.

Marto is on fire all ready! haha. absolute fool :D

    Chiefs V Force - Round 13

The force grounded the ball in goal after the initial knock on. should have been a 22 drop out. instead the force are down a man. horrible, horrible call

-I've made this point before, but its a bit rich to measure Cooper's performances for the reds this season (playing outside an excellent pack and the world's best no.9) against JOC (James O'Connor)'s performances (playing outside an average pack and an average halfback). I'm sure JOC (James O'Connor) will do a decent job for us...

Beale's behaviour might alter the initial 25 squad slightly (i.e. probably Mogg or Barnes moves in to the 25). I still expect Beale will be in the final 31, probably as part of the additional 6.

    Kurtley in Trouble Again

This is a shame, but not particularly surprising. Beale is going through a difficult time in his life and he clearly finds some comfort in alcohol. Problems with substance abuse are hard to overcome and the journey is not without its hurdles. This incident needs to be considered in the context...

Yeh we definitely look well placed for the 2015 WC. We'll have a squad packed full of experienced test players. Guys like Pocock, Genia, Horwill, O'Connor, beale (Folau?) etc will still be in their prime. Our props will be in their prime. The 2011 RWC came too early for us but 2015 will be...

Love the Honey Badger. personally i wouldn't have him in my 23, but id have no difficulties with him being selected if that's the way the selectors go. The guy plays with real passion and you know he'll play above himself in a gold jersey

Yeh it would be handy to have Burgess available for selection. It'll be interesting to see what the halfback pecking order will be come the next world cup.McKibbin, Phipps, Burgess and White could all be options.

I'm surprised people would leave Taps out of the squad. I don't think he's been poor this season by any means; if fact he was quite good over the first 5 rounds. He plays a pretty direct style for the Reds. He performed very well for the Wallabies on the EOYT. I see him somewhere between McCabe...

I suspect Cooper will be in the squad but not in the 23 for the first test. This creates the question/dilemma (which Deans has surely identified already) as to how long Quade will accept sitting on the sidelines before he becomes agitated.

So it seems the selection picture is becoming a bit clearer at this stage of the season (at least according to the posters on this site). I think most of us can now agree that:- 1) Palmer will not be the starting TH and will be merely vying for a spot in the 31. 2) Barnes will probably make...

I do think squad selection should be guided by tactics and strategy. Gatland has done just that. The question is what is the right strategy. Unfortunately Deans seems to be more focused on finding players to suit his tactics, rather than finding tactics to suit his players. Therein lies the rub.

Watchign the Saders v Brumbies game on the weekend, from where I was sitting the Brumbies scrum seemed to improve when Alexander took over at tighthead from Palmer. Not sure what to make of that.

Yeh that makes sense. If that's the case probably Douglas will slot in the 25 and MMM will be one of the 6 added. I'd add Gill as the 31st player.

I think Cully's on themoney here, save for Cummins. Tomane was Deans' first pick last year and probably will be again. Pretty good looking 25 too. Is the final squad 30 players??? I'd add Palmer, Douglas, Higgers, Taps, Mogg to round out the 30 (although Deans will probably prefer Barnes to...

well that's a bit different querty. He'd signed a 2 year deal with AFL and he simply indicated that he intended to stick out the term of his contract. Folau's motivations appear to be similar to that SBW. He wants to be a success. That means earning money, but also proving himself to be an...
