    Super "B" Rugby; Australia's likely 3rd Tier

I like the idea of the rules variation, at least to the extent that we will start breeding young players who are programmed to play an adventurous attack style of rugby rather having young guys coming in from club rugby and taking a conservative approach. It's nice in theory.

In terms of picking a series win I agree it's way too early. We probably wont know much until the first game at Suncorp is over. Funnily enough I actually think George Smith's selection could possibly hand us the favourites tag. Not that I think he is a better player (on current form) than...

yeh. that might depend on whether they opt for an extra back on the bench.

Yes I posted my team and then realised that MMM is really not overly strong at scrum time. I'm now leaning towards Douglas or Timani, both of whom are 120kg plus

We have some good depth in the front row but against the Lions combined resources, we can really only hope to hold steady. Benn Robinson should do the job but whoever teams with him at LHP will face a tough task. We all know the massive impact a reversing scrum can have on our game. not just...

From where I sit the series will be won and lost in the forward battle. We need a big pack that will put us on the front foot, will hold steady at scrum time and will be able to defend at rolling maul. If we can secure our ball at scrum time and our pack and get us on the front foot, we should...

    Wallabies 31 Man Squad

I think this is pretty close to what we'll get. If this is the 25 I would expect Palmer, MMM, Cooper, Lilo, Cummins, Mogg to be the added 6.

yeh. a 2012 Dave Dennis comes to mind. His impact at Super level didn't translate to an impact at test level.

Not sure I'd agree with that. Whilst I'm not the Biggest Barnes fan, he has actually shown an ability to beat defenders and score tries at test level. I cant say the same about Harris

Quade is surely the most polarising rugby player of the modern era. Whilst I have been critical of him over the last few years (deservedly so) and think O'Connor would do a decent job for us if needed, at this present time all signs point to Cooper being the best option for the Lions Series.

I think Mogg is good a example to use when measuring Folau against other "rookies", particularly given that they play the same position

If you're looking at Mogg and Folau, neither of which have played for the Wallabies, and your trying to decide which is the safer selection, you'd surely choose Folau every day of the week. The biggest risks with rookie test players is they'll either become invisible or they crumble under the...

Not even against one of the minnows!?!? Damn! surely he should at least make the intimidating step up from Super Rugby to playing the likes of Japan and Romania before he steps up to a heavyweight test. its the logical progression

Scoey I really think the answer is a simple yes. Izzy clearly has big match temperament. Apart from his first game this year (against the Reds) he has looked so cool as a cucumber. His nonchalant approach on the footy field is indicative of a man that has literally been there and done it at...

Given that the Lions will be putting a lot of bombs up to our fullback, surely it makes sense to put izzy back there

At this stage of his tenure, Deans is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Even if he wins the series people will chastise the tactics and selections he's employed. But at the end of the day, you reap what you sow. The poor RWC performance left such a bad taste in the public's mouth that...

Of the 4 or so blokes that are potential inside centre options come June (Lilo, Taps, McCabe, Horne) each have ticks in the positive and negative columns from where I sit. Lilo - Positives 1) looks to be in the best form of the lot 2) second playmaker. Negatives - untested at test level Taps -...

I couldn't justify picking Palmer in the starting side. I see some merit in his inclusion in the 23 but surely he cant start. He has not shown himself to be significantly stronger in the scrum than our other THP options. Slipper, Kepu and Alexander have all looked just as good in the scrum as...

I thought TPN had an exceptional game for the tahs on the weekend. He reminded me why Robbie rates him so highly. regularly got the tahs on the front foot by getting over the advantage line and bending the line. throwing was fairly solid too. It'll be very interesting to see him lineup against...

    Reds V Sharks - Round 13

Not surprised that the Reds went off the boil in the second half. They clearly got a bit comfortable after shooting to a 26 point lead. They were less than impressive in the 2nd half but the game was never in any doubt. We need Horwill back for the next two games, as he seems to be the guy...
