Probably not wrong there Naza, but I'm with Sully, Qld needs an older head in that backline. I guess Hynes now qualifies as the only other backline veteran, and he will probably start at the back.

Sounds like a talent all right! Gee, Qld is certainly developing some talented outside backs. The trick will be to hang on to him.

Thanks Lee - sensational stuff! Now if I can just score me a Bledisloe ticket I will return the favour and do a report on the schoolboy curtain raiser against Fiji.

Well Lee, I suppose some of the mail was accurate and four of the boys I mentioned made one team or the other. In hindsight, I do remember that Butler and Buchanan have been spoken of as talent so not surprised they are there. Surprised to see that both Qld fullbacks and Faulkner missed out, as...

Looking forward to Lee's wrap of the week's footy but the fact that Qld got the threepeat was a big surprise! Saw the OZ team announcement on another site and have to say I was surprised that Swanepoel made the bench after having been injured all year. Breddenhan must have been unlucky to miss...

Sounds like it is pretty even through the whole comp Lee, with CS upsetting NSW 1 and other results quite close. Maybe selections will reflect this and there will be a good representative spread? Has the youngest Faiinga turned out for the ACT? I haven't seen any mention of him. The other thing...

So does Beau Robinson have a confirmed contract in 09?

So was today a rest day Lee? If so, what are the likely last day final match ups? I'm thinking: NSW1 v. Qld 1 NSW2 v. Qld2 ACT v. CS Which would be to script....I wonder if Qld can do a threepeat? Be a mighty effort if they can.

Stevens (ACT) and Turner (CS/WA) looked good at last years tournament Lee. I didn't realise they had a year to go then. From memory I was impressed by Turners pass then. So, who are th other likely lads?

Great reports as usual Lee. Interesting that you saw Qld 1 as the strongest team of the day but it sounds like a mighty effort to win with a man down for most of the game. Pity about Quirk. Does he get suspended or will he be able to play in other matches during the week? Sounds like a few Qld...

Digby is a winger who still needs to work on catching and passing skills but no denying his pace and power. Hynes deserves first crack at fullback but Barnes might get called upon a bit to drop back from a kicking perspective. Would favour Morgs at 13 if he stays.

AD, Australian U16 Merit Team from two seasons ago : The impressive thing is that five of the seven backs made Aus Schoolboys the following year as 17 year olds. Lee, How has Matt T gone at Eastwood?

Yeah, good player no doubt, but very similar style to Luafutu who has just been signed. So judging by all the comments in this topic confirmed 2009 Reds are: Props: Edwards, Holmes, Daley Hookers: Hardman, Fainga, Hanson Locks: Horwill, Simmons, Byrne, Humphries Backrow: Houston, Luafutu...

Wonder whether Turinui and Siale will be back in 2009? If not, hope Ben Tapuai is under consideration, although I guess young Anthony Fainga is a 12 of some repute (haven't seen him play though). As for flankers, would prefer Coridas to both Robinson and Hodgson if we're going interstate. Pity...

Lee, From what I have seen or heard, these may be guys to keep your eye on apart from Stef Hunt: Qld 1 Feao - Strong running prop who was Aus A last year. Morahan - fullback and younger brother of Luke. Has kept Elih Baillee (OZ 16 merit side last year) in Qld 2. Ambrosini - No 10 and only...

So how did Matt To'omua and Saia Fainga go Lee? Looking forward to see how To'omua goes at S14 level next year, being a year older and all that.

Force sounds like the best option for Valentine. Reds have Lucas and Genia with maybe Swanepoel (Aus schools 07) in the Academy. There are also a few decent halfbacks in the local comp like McKibbin (Brothers) and Armstrong (Sunnybank) who could fill in when required. So nah.. we don't want him..

Qld schools trials commence this Thursday. Teams can be found at the following link: http://qru.com.au/qru/qru.rugby/page/66360 Given that the Qld schools are well into their seasons they might actually be more than just competitive against the NSW boys who are just starting theirs.

That's ok, outside backs are more than covered with Hynes, Ioane, Vaalu, Connor and Davies.
