    Queensland Reds 2009

Listened to Braid, Horwill and Barnes having a 'fireside chat' at a dinner last night. Braid is surprisingly small in stature but spoke well and seems raring to go. Barnes was a big wrap for the two 9's Genia and Lucas.Came across as a genuinely good bloke. Horwill very assured and quite...

    The Official Australian 7s Thread

May as well resuscitate this thread. Quarter Finals in the first event of the year for a bunch of kids is not a bad result. Aust lost in the qtrs to eventual winner Sth Africa and then narrowly lost 17-14 to Samoa in the plate semi. Not much in the way of match reports but I see young Luke...

    Queensland Reds 2009

Brown went to the Force didn't he, only to get released after pulling another hammy on the Force tour? In any case Vaalu in the 14 jerseywould do the job.

    And to Wales

I'd have to say it has been a successful tour, but nonetheless disappointing to have a gimp for a referee, who made some really bad calls at crucial times. For me it was the most enjoyable game of the tour to watch as it featured more expansive play than the others. The try by the Welsh 15 was...

    Pom Vs Wallabies

I gotta say that I was impressed with the England backs, who I thought showed more fluidity. The halfback won that duel in my opinion, Cipriani looks like a real 10, I thought Flutey was very good with ball in hand, and the 15, as Lee posted earlier, looks like one to watch.

    US Schoolboys Rugby Team

That is a good story. You have to take your hat off to people like Tal Bayer.

    and so onto France

That idea has some merit. With Barnes out Cooper probably has the best kicking game of the guys there. Having said that I hope Deans doesn't dick around with things too much, if at all. The same 22 deserve the chance to go back to back. Experiments can come in the last couple of games.

    Pom Vs Wallabies

Magnificient result! Agree with all the positive comments by everyone. Thought the 10 commentary was pretty ordinary. MOM - Sharpe and Baxter - simply for defying the massive amounts of criticism they have received over the years and putting in blinders. Plenty of good players in the forwards...

Eddie Jones making sense for a change

Brilliant piece really. Now all he has to do is work on his people management skills.

    2009 Brisbane Club Competition

I wonder if the new S14 guys like the Fainga'a brokers, Byrne, Weekes etc.. will go to local clubs, and who. That may have a bearing on things at the pointy end of the season?

    2009 Brisbane Club Competition

With all stars on deck Sunnybank will be pretty formidable but up to seven or eight will be missing during S14. Add to that the departure of Ben Gollings and I am thinking they may have a bit of a struggle. Will Crofty be running around for Brothers? If so, they will be hard to toss as they are...

I hear he gets around $150k or maybe even more for the three year deal. Who can compete with that?

    Queensland Schools Rugby 2009

I see that a 70 man Junior Reds squad has been announced for Brisbane with further Junior Reds squad announcements to be made for Townsville, Gold and Sunshine Coasts and Darling Downs. Not sure how old these kids are but good to see the QRU identifying and incentivising in this manner.

    Brumbies 2009

there has been a bit said about future 10's on a few threads but I think it's appropriate to this thread to remind people of Matt To'omua. James O'Connor, Quade Cooper and Kurtley Beale are special talents, but this kid is the real deal in terms of 5/8th's. I hope he has some good game time with...

ARU Confirm: Lote's just here for marketing purposes.

Convert is the key word and why these guys are even in the mix. They excited league crowds and the ARU wants to get those excited followers across. Is that such a bad thing?

    Berrick?

Lee and TOCC, Appreciate the sentiment, but seriously we (Qld) will be in big trouble if our season is shot without these two. Granted, they are important, but I prefer to remain glass half full and say that 3M and Simmons/Van etc.. will fill the forwards gap and Fainga'a/ Fetoia will substitute...

Now, when Tahu's hammy mends, what about giving him a run with the Sevens team? Wouldn't hurt in terms of his rugby education, and I think he would be devastating.

    an interesting career comparison?

I'm confident he will. Has all the skills and with maturity will shine.
