    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

Watched the GPS/Norths game which GPS won 28/17 (4 tries bonus point), although for a large part of the game Norths were only 4 points behind and accounted for themselves very well. Norths will pull a few surprises this season. Their halfback was into everytihing, while the GPS halfback was...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

Of course the games should go on. I love watching rugby in the rain, especially at club level, as I used to love playing it in the rain. I don't know why they call off games now days. If it was cricket, I'd understand (I think).

Either that or Links whispered in his ear that we have a second halfback itching for a game.

Blues Vs Reds Super Rugby Round 10, 2012

I've been going through the Blues profiles, and I suspect now I know why the Blues are at the bottom of the table - and also why I think they have as much chance as a snowball in hell of winning tomorrow night. First reason: Too many 'dead men walking', or Dad's Army'' players. Ali Williams...

A 23 man squad has flown out to Auckland, including Albert Anae & Ant Fingaa. Might be a 4-3 bench?

Blues Vs Reds Super Rugby Round 10, 2012

So with the backs where all our injuries are occurring, its difficult to home in on a selection. My crystal ball says: 9 Ginea 10 Lucas 11 Davies 12 Harris 13 Ioane 14 Shipperley 15 Morahan Reserves 21 Frisby 22 ?????* * Who isn't injured? A. Fainga'a, if he is nearly OK, can't be on the...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

For all we know, he may well be sticking to the game plan. With the uncertainty of the teamwork in the back line, caoches' instructions might well have been, " kick the shitters out of it"

It all makes sense now . The SA judiciary extended the suspension for Ioane to this game so as he wouldnt play the Stormers, but let him do his magic against the Kiwi sides following

Lets see the Reds nail this one for Michael 'Noddy' Lynagh, one of the greatest Reds fly-halves ever, who is presently in Royal Brisbane Hospital with a stroke, at 48. Get well soon, Noddy

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

Because the Stormers lost to the Crusaders, they shouldn't be underestimated. I watched the Crusader's game against the Bulls in Jo'berg, & though they lost, they also found their mojo in the last ten minutes of that game to be more like a finalist team. Consequently I backed them to beat the...

Is Rugby Losing out in the Australian media?

Paul Cully was writing for the SMH all last season, and possibly the season before (I can't remember). In my opening article for this thread, I wrote Well Paul Cully is a journo I do rate more highly - his articles have insight, and although you won't always agree with him, at least he has a...

Richard Graham to quit the Force and join the Reds

With the Reds Assistant coach, Matt Taylor, leaving at the end of the Season to coach Scotland, a replacement Assistant Coach had to be found. Now a Super 15 coach of another team (say the Force), would not be prepared to drop a ranking to Assistant Coach even if it is the Reds, & even with Ewen...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

Penguin's also strikes a cord with me. Have Lane on the bench, with Lucas at first flyhalf & Harris (particularly for his points kicking) at second flyhalf. I know it's a risk having two inside backs coming off a long injury spell although I'd imagine the two weeks break with the bye would have...

Is Rugby Losing out in the Australian media?

I suspect that the media is hurting from both the general economic downturn in Australia, and particularly from 'on line' competition. In turn that suggests they are more than happy just to copy feed from recognized outlets, in turn allowing them to minimise on staff. But it is a two way sword...
