Reds v. Force Super Rugby Round 6 2012

I thought Brendan McKibbin was Brother's main converter until he joined up with Waratahs last year - so Murphy couldn't be too strong in that position

Reds v. Force Super Rugby Round 6 2012

The reds forward pack will remain virtually unchanged this week, 'though I can see Robinson & Gill playing together with Higgers off the bench to give him a break against a lighter but faster Force pack. I think Simmons will keep his spot in spite of his poor performance last week. At the moment...

Reds v. Force Super Rugby Round 6 2012

As I said in another thread, Reds V Bulls, Murphy was behind a forward pack that was going backwards, and for even an accomplished 5/8 that's a hard act to play well from. Look at some of QC (Quade Cooper)'s games when he has been behind a backward pack - not very impressive either. I'd keep Murphy in for the...

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

I also think it's very hard for any no 10 to perform well when his forward pack is going backwards. I remqmber some of QC (Quade Cooper)'s worst games were when he was in a similiar predicament in the past.

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

Hearing all that , BR, nevertheless a team needs to stay in touch with the leaders. And I beg to differ that it is not one result, but: (A) two losses in a row, and, (B) the wins against the Force & the Rebels lacked commitment. Bonus points were there for the taking, but not raelized, (C)...

@RH This can be further exemplified the other way (success) by the re-emergence of the Brumbies, even though the season is still a pup. Obviously Jake White has instilled a fervent desire in the team and proved that the coaching cannot be over-estimated in the fortunes of a side. In fact it...

"Queensland Rugby Records its Largest Growth in History"

I went to a function down there Friday evening a few weeks ago, and I've never seen so many blue & white striped vegemites.

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

I've just used my wildcard, and have come up with a selection that included 3 Cheetahs & 3 Rebels - shows how the sides are evening out

    Digby banned for five weeks

Can anyone on this thread remember a suspension on a foreign player given by the SA judiciary to be too light? I can't, they always seem to go overboard, but I would appreciate anyone's contribution in this regard.

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

Strange. The number of Reds supporters on this thread saying (a) they probably won't win & (b) well, a loss is a good thing right now to take the expectation factor out of it. I've only got one word for you armchair critics - bullshit. I wouldn't have you on my team, and I can only hope the...

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

I think the game against the Bulls will be a cracker. The Reds are hurting from the way they lost to the Sharks, and more importantly they have started to rediscover their mojo. Lance Jono impressed for the Reds in the business part of the season last year. The great thing about what is...

    Digby banned for five weeks

I very much doubt it was a spear tackle. A spear tackle is where you pile drive a player into the ground from the verticle - this had quite a bit of lateral in the tackle if you look at the replays. Really a very unjust decision made by ................ just who was on the judiciary making the...

    Waratahs vs Sharks - RD5 2012

The problem for the 'tahs is that if they don't bounce back they are looking down the double barrels of a shotgun as regards the finals playoffs, with both the Reds & Brumbies already 5 points in front, and the Rebels just 2 points behind. If (and I know that's a big word vis a vis if my aunty...

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

I suspect they are coming in as squad reserves, in case anyone comes down with injury/illness before the Bulls game. Links makes a mockery though of my remark,

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

Assuming that both Harris & Lucas are injured, or even have a niggle, Links if he stays true to his philosophies, will not fly anyone over. IMHO I think Lance should go to flyhalf, and Murphy to second fly half, as Lance has the experience at S15. keep the other players in their normal positions.

Do you really think the Bulls will lose by 89 points?

Reds vs Sharks Rnd 4 2012

No, can't agree with any further suspension. On watching the replay a number of times, you can see there was lateral direction in the downward part of the tackle, not a 'spear' which is more verticle. Even one of the SA commentators said after watching the replay, that it should have been a...
