I thought I should start a thread to match Two Blues and Manly! Please don't use it to tell me how much you hate Randwick ;)

    Shute Shield 2013

SLS, I certainly agree with your comment about the commitment of both sides. Some of the tackling was ferocious. Watching the run of play there didn't seem to be a lot between the two sides, but Eastwood definitely showed more flair and creativity in attack and deserved to win by the margin. The...

BTW Dave Beat, the Marlins had a tall, blond outside back / full back a few years ago who (from memory) played 2nds and then came off the bench in 1sts against the Wicks at Manly Oval. I was told he was only 18 or thereabouts. He looked like a potential world beater, but I haven't seen him...

    MANLY 2013

Good luck with that! I must say I'm disappointed the Wicks aren't playing at Manly this year. I look forward to the ferry ride, Campos coffee on the walk from the wharf, great view of the game from the stand, friendly BBQ staff......sigh! Wish we could get back to full home-and-away.

Has the wooden seating at Death Valley been upgraded? I don't remember seeing any pine there. I'll be very disappointed if they've replaced the old telephone poles? ;)

    Sydney Subbies 2013

Here is what has been communicated to the members: The licenced club was apparently borrowing money from the foundation. The sale has gone through but the new owners are leasing the premises back at a peppercorn rent for 6 months. The club will then have to relocate. Options are being reviewed...

Crashy, Randwick is financially sound -- it's the licenced club (a separate entity) that is broke.

    Shute Shield 2013

His name is William Carrick-Smith and he's on loan from Exeter Chiefs, the UK club that Wade Kelly used to play for. He towered over the other locks on the field when he ran on in second grade.

    Shute Shield 2013

I agree TPN is a class act but I must admit I was somewhat bemused by the comparison between his arrival at Coogee on Saturday and that of SBW. TPN walked in (a current Wallaby) and nobody seemed to take much notice. SBW arrived and there was an immediate buzz around the ground with adults...

Have the Waratah management allowed him to play the full game or have they limited his time?

Well said Hugh! As I said in a previous post, thank god the season has started so we can forget about the bloody 3rd bloody tier and watch some rugby!

    Shute Shield 2013

Just re-read my original post. I meant "Wicks had 7 players who were regular 1st graders at Randwick last year".

    Shute Shield 2013

Asa, Taavili, Aho, Kotezcky, Boileau, Lautolo, Paila were all making their 1st grade debuts at the Wicks. I might have been wrong about Tom Bennett but I didn't think he had a run on start last year in 1st grade. The point I was making was the lack of experience as a combination and I believe...
