Much better half of test match rugby from the Wallabies. We're still in the game. I don't know if I'd be kicking the ball down the centre of the field to the ABs though.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

That was the context of the discussion at the time on this thread IIRC.

I've heard no plans about increasing the size - that would be a matter for the new Headmaster. I'd heard that Dr Mulford wanted the numbers capped at 220 so that there was still a feeling that everyone knew each other in the year group.

A lot of the primary schools make it mandatory. It was at Newington Prep as well. There's not evidence of any benefit re concussion, but prevents head wounds.

What's your explanation for losing 21 out of 25 soccer games to Grammar?

An open team which won two games this year and one game last year? When I post things, I make comments about things of which I have some direct knowledge - hence using 13s and 14s. If you want a full debate on this go over onto the other thread (where things have been quiet) don't hide over...

Although in fairness, Scots seem to have taken the 1sts Shield to North Parramatta on Saturday and given it to Kings after the game.

Perhaps it may interest you to know that of the current Newington 14A team; 9 boys came from the two prep schools and the other 6 are all either sons of old boys or siblings. The 13As have a similar makeup. Not surprising since of the 220 places available in Year 7, 100 boys move from Wyvern...

If he misses things, he misses things. That's life and it's how rugby has been for most of the last 150 years.

You've done a great job. I hope they amend their records.

You have TBC, which is understandable as the official AAGPS website has a blank space. EDIT: Although I notice you've filled in SJC for 1906,07,08 and 09 which are also blank on the AAGPS website.;)

You're always a chance in a two horse race. To win against the ABs, we need everyone to play at their best and also have the bounce of the ball and most of the 50/50 calls to go our way. Let's hope Barnes brings his 2007 whistle.;)

    They have a coherent administration.

Well, there's also a boy in your 13As who represented NSW PSSA at union, league and touch football and the region at cross country and holds every athletics record at the local primary school for evey year he was there.

Surely though they could produce one or two from what is a traditional rugby demographic? There seem to be plenty of elite athletes in the rowing programme. From the outside looking in, it appears that the whole approach to sport and the preparation of teams is where much of the answer lies...

Even after 50 years in the wilderness, Grammar are still 3rd. Come on Dr Malpass, get the school back into sport - you owe it to your forebears and the boys still to enrol. No excuses, get it done.

Are the German side made up of expats or locals? Would be good for rugby if the Germans could take up the game in numbers.

Although I hear that the shield is currently in residence at North Parramatta - and probably well guarded by a detachment of the Kings Cadet Corps. In formation to repel the Joeys hordes.
