Much better than losing

There's probably not much between Australia, South Africa and Argentina. They did beat the same South African team that we played last night by a bigger margin. Unless I was a NZ supporter, I wouldn't be getting excited about any of the teams in the competition.

Indeed, there were a number times when each side had turnover ball with the chance to go wide but either kicked it or tucked it under the arm and went into contact.

Certainly not last week's. I'd add that if guys like Sio, Alaatoa, To'omua had been through the NZ development system rather than the Australian one they'd be at the required level. I notice that an increasing number of players are voting with their feet and trying their luck in the Mitre...

Don't think that any of the 46 players tonight would make the All Blacks 23 - the difference in class is immense.

The whole thing was fairly ordinary, but I'll take the win. One thing worse than winning ugly is losing ugly. Can't blame the ref for the skills and execution of the teams though.

He makes it up as he goes along - always has. It comes from not having a clue.

It's slow motion rugby. Hope there are plenty of freebies in the crowd, almost fraudulent accepting money for seats. Even Gordon Bray on the dew bandwagon.

Don't think Mackerras wanted athletes. Inside Shoulder has previously posted comments that Mackerras made about sport in general and rugby in particular. Sad that the first two schools on that list won the Waratah Shield (when it was a statewide knockout in which many state schools competed)...
