Canes v Reds at the Cake Tin - 2011R11

One of those plays that make the coach tear his hair out. They were being thrashed in the first half, they managed to manufacture enough points in the second while staunching the haemorrhage that was their defence to get in front. Rather than just grind out the last 2 mins QC (Quade Cooper) opens the door...

Canes v Reds at the Cake Tin - 2011R11

That was like watching an episode of F-Troop, though I must admit I chuckled less. I suppose QC (Quade Cooper) was looking for the 4 try bonus point/win with his cross-field kick in the last few minutes. Ouch. We can hardly complain about the ref when the reds completions and decisions were far worse. The...

At the the risk of being pedantic... and using too many full stops... Pocock HAS played this year... Just not this month...

Media alert: Australian rugby union to announce major decision on the future of rugby

ARU announces announcement. ARU postpones announcement. General public remains oblivious. The real joke is that only enthusiasts even notice.

Media alert: Australian rugby union to announce major decision on the future of rugby

I'd be more concerned about what your avatar is doing with his hand than about alternate reality. Dirty kiwis.

Who would be Wallaby captain for RWC if Rocky isn't fit?

I wonder how long Sharpie has left at the top? The concept of a captain that will be running around in 5 years is appealing. Pocock or Genia entice. Pocock appeals as a lead-by-example all-round-good-guy first-player-picked, but I've no idea of his game and ref management are like. Genia seems...

    Waratahs 2011

Ouch. The Rebels will be starting to believe it's their turn. Hope the Tahs have stopped looking back and are looking forward.

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

By my fast forward rewatch, 3 for the Reds and one for the Tahs. Reds fumbled another couple they got their hands on from the tahs throw or it would have been even more in the reds favour. Tahs did have more throws, to be fair. Oh and I watched the knock on before the Beale "try" a couple of...

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

People make their own decisions. Some outcomes are meant to be, and for the best. Mitchell is one of my favorite players, watching him break tackles in traffic is one of the joys of rugby. But it wouldn't matter if he was the least capable, least likeable super journeyman. It's terrible to see...

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

Sorry, I didn't quote it but I was mainly replying to If the reds forwards had capitulated, they would have lost.

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

Scrum dominance does not = forward dominance. Reds had the better of the lineouts and the rest was close enough to be arguable.

The Ongoing Tragedy of the Waratahs

Sometimes it takes a complete implosion to go forwards. Players and staff who aren't up for the challenge move on or are moved on, those that stay have a level of commitment and desperation for success, and there is a momentum to be had on the way up from the lowest nadir. The Tahs have not...

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

A couple of observations: I was uneasy about this one all week because the Reds went in as the team in form, top of the table and expected to win, but the waratahs have built an edge over them to the point that they are the Reds voodoo side. Link got them up, the forwards competed in a torrid...

    Force V Bulls - 2011R10

I think that it's only fair that the Farce, after stripping the rugby talent from the eastern states, should also inherit our worst commentators. The difficulty is in deciding who the worst is. But Marto, as always, is a safe bet. Why don't you westralians grow your own commentating talent, anyway!

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

+1 The attrition level in these conference grudge matches is tremendous, granted, but TPN is getting worse - in terms of looking like he is going to expire - each match. The comparison to the involvement early in the season is night and day.
