Stormers vs Queensland Reds @ Newlands - 2011R08

Did I say solid set piece?

Stormers vs Queensland Reds @ Newlands - 2011R08

Yeah, the Reds are looking quite composed. Solid set pieces. Cooper is doing a pretty good job of steering them around the park.

Stormers vs Queensland Reds @ Newlands - 2011R08

Its a lot of changes before a tough opponent. Could go very wrong.

    Brumbies 2011

Maybe from Morahan's perspective thats the problem - he has been on the fringes for a couple of seasons and performed solidly with any opportunities, but has never looked like becoming a regular starter. Maybe the next couple of games will make his career at the reds.... or make his mind up re...

    Wallabies world cup squad selection

Hang on to your hyperbole. The first half of last years internationals he was hardly consistently stellar. If the same was to apply this year, coming back from a long layoff, of the players running around this weekend I would say that certainly McCalman, but also Dennis, Mowen, Higginbotham are...

    Wallabies world cup squad selection

Whoa up. I fall into the "pick Rocky if he's fit and not in laughable form" camp. But we can win without him, and we may even make better decisions without him as captain.

Stormers vs Queensland Reds @ Newlands - 2011R08

I like the commitment and application of Fainga'a, he defends well though Bruce's references to his propensity to get up out of the defensive line are relevant. He is a bit slow for my liking but if you're trying to keep Harris in the side this is probably worth a shot. Is it worth a shot...

Current Front Row Rankings on Form

Yeah, to my naive eye Daley: 40% of the time hinges and or misses his bind 40% of the time is fine, gets his bind and drags back from near hinging. 20% is a grab bag of him being cleaved from Fainga'a (please God, tell me this won't happen for the wallabies this year) or the reds pack forgetting...

What to do, 5m out, against a set defense

This is a great thread, though it still triggers flashbacks to Christchurch last year when the wallaby attack lapped against the all blacks like the wake from a canoe against a cliff. How about "Pray Giteau is not at first receiver"?

    Reds 2011

Like anything else you read in the Courier Mail, there is a lot of newsprint devoted to the hard hitting reporting that probably went something like this: Ben Dorries: Would Quade consider playing for the Broncos when he comes off contract? Khoder Nasser: Blah blah blah.... Sure, why not...

    Lions v Reds - 2011R07

The judiciary appear to have agreed with you, to the point of clearing Slipper. Thought it was 50-50 in isolation, but that consistency meant suspension. Wonder if the procedural fuck-up - citing without actually citing or at least notifying the Reds - had any influence.

Stormers vs Queensland Reds @ Newlands - 2011R08

Slipper has been cleared in his SANZAR judicial hearing and therefore should be right to play the Stormers this weekend. I'm putting that name - Stefan Weyers - in my little black book in case of any drunken indiscretions in Jo-burg.

Super Rugby Ugly 1st XV 2011

He has improved in looks since moving to the home of style, Melbourne. But the Canberran Mortlock looks like a corpse with deader eyes.

Western Force vs NSW Waratahs, 2011R08

I think they're taking the long way round to gain a day preparing for the Blues, and to get a little training in at attitude sorry I mean altitude.

    Wallaby Outside Centre

How many tries did TC score or set up against that crap opposition in 80 minutes of ..... rugby?:fishing The equation: 80/20 x (2 tries+1 assist) = ?

    Wallaby Outside Centre

Mike Harris is an Aussie icon, I will not hear a word said against him, and he is a standout for outside centre.

    Force v Rebels - 2011R07

But. It gets a bit more complicated when a team ties the ball up in the breakdown or is constantly offside in defence, for example, to prevent the other team from having an opportunity to score tries. If the other team kicks enough goals to win because of infringements that reduce their ability...

    Lions v Reds - 2011R07

Apart from Genia and Cooper, Davies has been the most consistent of the backs catching the ball in the air. Of course the answer to almost any question when you're filling a hole in the backline is HIGGINBOTHAM! He was great last night. Worked hard carrying the ball in tight, and was one of...

    Wallabies world cup squad selection

+1. Good set pieces, rumbles well in a maul. A handy habit when nothing else is working.
