Bledisloe #1 - AUS v NZL, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, August 8th

Maybe 2015 Quade can't play a fast, direct game any more. 2011 Quade could. If he can then you're right. He's our best choice. No evidence of it at this stage.Shame he didn't get more time in the S15.

I agree that someone is needed to straighten the attack.

I'm not sure where you're going with this. You want me to find links that say that Folau beats more defenders than anyone else in world rugby? Funnily enough, I know a site that probably keeps that precise statistic, across the provincial comps and tests. Before I cheat by looking, it seems a...

Bledisloe #1 - AUS v NZL, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, August 8th

What on earth do you mean? Folau has the highest strike rate for defenders beaten in world rugby.

At the risk of being pedantic, Kepu was a professional foul (breaking the laws deliberately for advantage) and Smith was foul play.

I'm not averse to him either. I was only ribbing BrumbyRunner for serial Brumby picking. However I think we're in danger of not realising what is working. Cheika's current big idea is to pick a starting and finishing team, where the start team isn't necessarily the strongest team, but one...

The difference between most players 'crabbing' to try to get outside defenders, and Folau doing it, is that Folau usually succeeds, and his passing step is often back in. I'll take it.

Of course they will. Continuously selecting Brumbies is like having a stopped watch. Sometimes it's sure to be correct. This might be one of those cases.

On the other hand he ran 90 meters (again), beat multiple defenders, took most of the bombs that came anywhere near his way, offloaded out of contact and made a few great tackles. Oh, how quickly we get used to it.

Whoa there Bubba. Next week is for the Bledisloe! I'd almost swap that for the RWC.

White and Cooper could work well. White has a great pass.

I didn't say no bench players should start. The alternative (in Cheika-land) is that we keep To'omua on the bench to finish. We just won a Bled. Now people are working out how to restore the status quo so we can win again next time. Hello?

Bledisloe #1 - AUS v NZL, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, August 8th

Meh. The usual follow up to a poor performance in sports is another poor performance. It's called form. People (and teams) don't find themselves suddenly in form because they're angry and upset by their last performance out of form. Not that the New Zealand team were poor. They were merely...

People suggesting that the bench players should start next week because of their impact, are missing the point.

What's par? They were scratchy against the Argies and just squeaked past the Boks. The field is leveling.

Yes! One does not simply walk into Homebush.

I knew an AB fan who would always put a small bet on the opposition. That way, in the event that his team lost, he'd usually get a nice payout for a small investment, before running amok in his street with an AK47.

I don't deny that pessimists have greater predictive powers than optimists in these matches. It's easy to back the ABs. They usually win. It's the spirit of some of the pessimists that depresses me. There's burger, and there's burger with relish.

There's never a shortage of Wallaby fans histrionically predicting a drubbing before any New Zealand game, and bemoaning how their selections would have made it right. Given that we usually lose, it's a sensible prediction to make (although some spice it up with huge margins), but it's a strange...
