Super Rugby AU Round 2 - Reds vs Rebels

We now know why the Rebs 3 is a bit weak at the scrum. Recent convert from League. Fun to watch run it in hard though.

Super Rugby AU Round 2 - Reds vs Rebels

I am seriously considering watching Better Homes and Gardens. Or dare I say it. League at this point.

Super Rugby AU Round 2 - Reds vs Rebels

Difficult to judge on the scrum considering it's something that relies very heavily on the unit as a whole as opposed to an individual player. But. There has been an obvious pick up in the Rebs scrum with Ainsley on.

Super Rugby AU Round 2 - Reds vs Rebels

Every now and then. There's a spark. Just a spark. Of a game of Rugby.

Super Rugby AU Round 2 - Reds vs Rebels

Kind of what I'm alluding to. The conditions shouldn't be as much of a factor in handling as just poor attention to basic skills from players and coaches alike.

Super Rugby AU Round 2 - Reds vs Rebels

I get it slick thanks to the rain. But come on. What do these guys do at training? Clearly no handling skills. Or practice running from depth.

Super Rugby AU Round 2 - Reds vs Rebels

Am I the only one who didn't see the player obstructing the ruck by not rolling away?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well, I'd assume we'd see most of the top line players from each of the Rebels and Brumbies sign for either one of the Tahs or Reds, wouldn't we? Considering you know. Most of them are from either one of the two states. In theory at least that would make them pretty competitive.

    Obviously.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think the best model to sell to private equity would be a whole league structure more so than individual teams. But I do agree. I think similar to what is suggest in the Robinson article a 'Big Bash' like domestic league that looks to sign international talent to supplement the local players...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Ten teams : 5/5 Aus and NZ teams with the Force. Home and away for 18 games plus top 4 Finals. Ten teams : 5/4 NZ and Aus with the Force continuing with GRR and the 10th team being a PI squad. Home and away for 18 games plus top 4 Finals. Eleven teams : 5/5 Aus and NZ with the Force and a PI...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

With the Japanese Pro League set to start in January 2022 there will be serious questions needing answered about player retention. Which I have been thinking a little about. The solution that comes up in my mind is dual contracting between Aus/NZ franchises and Japanese clubs alongside a shift...

    2020 crowds and ratings

The restart of the NRL was talked and reported about for literally weeks across every major news broadcast in Sydney and Brisbane. Every fan knew when it was restarting and a big deal was made. And even then the next week those audiences effectively halved. Rugby restarted with barely a whisper...

    2020 crowds and ratings

Assuming today's game rates the same as yesterday's were probably looking at an average between 46-49k across the weekend. Which is not what we'd all like to see but still well beyond what pretty much every other offering on Fox Sports outside of the big 3. And once again the A-League got $37m...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The A-League got $37m for the upcoming season with an average of less than a 1/4 of those figures.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

A handful have also re-signed with MLR clubs. Most of these clubs across both competitions have around $1m AUD a season player budgets (in regards to MLR when lodging etc. is taken into the equation) as an average.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

With the Jaguares players being allowed to sign in Europe you'd be expecting most of the player signing news to be coming out of France in regards to Argentina. But at present I've seen reports of at least 6 or so Argentina XV/Jaguares players (fringe) signing for Spanish clubs.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

In a perfect world all of the available talent including those from the PIs and they would be distributed among 10-12 teams across both countries. But that would require a complete rethink of how the competition is run.
