    Round 6 - Reds v Waratahs - Suncorp

To be fair, there was also discussion of the extremely relevant issue of how harshly the Western Force are treated.

In the short term, yes. This whole conversation is very speculative forum talk - we are basically taking about a guy who played 7 games last year and none so far this year. But I guess a few of us see a pretty high ceiling in Vunivalu. That’s not to denigrate Kellaway at all. He has been terrific.

I dunno. I don’t think there is anything wrong with teams being able to make a referral to the citing commission. It doesn’t remove the obligation of the citing commission to decide if it should go ahead or not. I more found it interesting because, from what I’ve seen, players rarely rat on...

Paisami & Ikitau both pass. Kerevi has improved his offloading game a lot which is great for the roving winger. Wingers also roam more across the width of the park to work off the 10 and off others. MK doesn’t really need centres to pass him the ball. Not that it wouldn’t be a good thing, but...

Interesting that Jim Tucker is reporting that Tupou’s citing came about because of a process that the Brumbies initiated.

It’s not that cut and dried though. Most of those guys were top shelf league players. They didn’t Kill it because league’s S&C was better. They killed it because they were sensational footballers. Curtis Rona was leading try scorer in an underperforming team for 1-2 seasons and be actually...

Cordingley, Thorn & Rennie are all on record they would like to retain him. He came to play a World Cup. If that avenue is still open to him, then I would think he’ll at least consider it. And if it’s money he wants he’ll be far better off doing another 12 months in rugby then signing in Japan...

He really could add another dimension to both the Reds & Wallabies attack. Let’s hope he’s ready to go very soon.

I get what you are saying and I posted yesterday about him maybe having to back off a bit, so largely I agree. But I will play devils advocate here too. He DOES do this quite often and because of how he charges in they regularly get reviewed. I can’t think of the last time one was found to be...

Surely Thorn is talking to Brothers about running 2-4 mid week trials.

I think a lot depends on what position there is the biggest gap rather than simply who are our best 3 OS players. Otherwise surely LFG gets a spot???

Not really a fan myself either - but it’s a really problem spot for us at the moment. I’m not convinced he’s worse as a player than any of the guys currently in action here - although I do think Fainga'a played some of his best games in gold last year. I was really hoping Mafi would kick on...

I take it as a bit of a sign at least that Rennie is thinking he may not utilise any OS locks. He only has 3 picks. Kerevi will be one and Koroibete likely to be another. I don’t see any real OS option for 15, but I feel there is a strong argument that Rennie will get more value by recalling...

I prefer the Ryan Lonergan selection to Lachlan Lonergan. I get that he has qualities our other hookers don’t, and that it is a position of weakness, but he has a fair way to go IMO and I’m really hoping we don’t get down to needing him v England.

I’m no longer too phased. Campbell struggled a bit on the wing last year, but has been good there this year. But both he & Petaia are better at full back. Petaia still has some way to go to be a test level fullback, but doing quite well there at Super level IMO.
  18. TSR

    Reds 2022

Does that mean Petaia has to change positions again?

    Reds 2022

Yeah - I agree Tupou needs to resist the temptation. I thought his point of contact was fine, but it was close and there is such a small margin in it. Could easily have been a red (and potentially is still going to get suspended anyway). Just don’t think it is worth the risk going forward.

    Reds 2022

That’s a big concern. Given they viewed it and cleared it in the game I’d assume they’ve only cited him if they are pretty clear. In which case you’d imagine he’s likely to get a few weeks.
