    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

On a seperate note it’d be interesting to know why Daugunu appears out of favour. Happy that Creighton seems to be developing well, but I’m yet to see anything from him that suggests to me he is better than, or even close to Daugunu.

I do think your Zander did well though. Best game this year IMO. I hope he can keep it up and kick on.

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

I thought Taniela was pretty good last night. Ala'alatoa too. They are definitely a clash of styles but both seem to be in great form. I did think the Reds could’ve got a bit more pay for their dominant scrum and, if that was the case we’d be lauding Tupou today but, in fairness, the Brumbies FR...

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

I found Valetini an interesting case last night. I know I noticed him less than I did in previous weeks. Not to say I didn’t see him often - but didn’t see as many big charges or hits. But there was a period when I saw him involved in 2-3 breakdowns in a row when the Reds were in...

    Wallabies 2023

I’m really unsure on what the selectors should do with Nick Frost for the English series. On current form I would absolutely have him in the squad. Even allowing for the fact we haven’t played the Kiwi teams yet he has been in very impressive form. On the flip side we already have a situation...

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

I guess I’ll wait until the games today - but I’d be surprised if the players from last night don’t feature heavily in my TOTW. I’m reminded that grand finals are very rarely free flowing affairs and test matches often aren’t either because the quality of the opposition tends to make it harder...

I don’t think this will solve the issues of the lengthy reviews in play though Derp. It might reduce then a bit, but what constitutes serious foul play is pretty subjective.

With regards to Jeans, a bit more composure under pressure would have been good, but you can’t train experience. I prefer he is getting the exposure now - hopefully will help him going forward. On the plus side Thomas seems to have really come along and Blyth & Smith have become a solid...

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

My biggest concern with the incident is that, in hindsight, McReight would have been more chance of getting the call if he had taken a dive. I’m glad he didn’t - even if it did cost the game I really don’t want the players going down that path, but you can see why some do.

I’d love to see rugby trial ditching the video ref. It would mean you’d have to put more emphasis on the after game review process, but if the aim of the video ref is to get more right decision than at what cost, and I don’t think it is happening anyway.

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

Agree. I’m far from blameless when it comes to venting at refs, I’m just over how prevalent it has become and, honestly, I find some of the claims so laughable I often assume people are taking the piss.

Yeah - and I’ll stick with what I said. I’m not going to pretend Murphy didn’t make mistakes, but they went both ways and it is what it is. It was a good game - the Brumbies won. I’d rather talk about the game fhen carry on about Murphy who is doing a job I never could.

Well I definitely thought he was better than Banks. Will depend how the other 3 fullbacks play I guess.

I thought Petaia was good. Lots of good good stuff. Ironically his biggest issue was he put a couple of high balls down and they hurt us.

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

Actually, I’m going to amend my earlier comment. I enjoyed the game and I love that the Reds kept punching and they did a lot of good things, but lots to improve for the Reds and I look forward to them continuing to improve.

Gee it’s a shame Frost is going OS. Just getting better and better.

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

Cracking game. Congrats Brumbs. Too good. Disappointed to lose. Reds had their chances. Generally very happy with how the Reds played though. Lineout and discipline our every lasting Achilles heel but gee there was a lot to like.

Absolutely - Swain new exactly what he was doing. Ran a mile offside fo get Wilson early. Gee Wilson did some good work in the lead up to that.
