It's a bit hard to say which Locks will be chosen at this stage. I'd wage Jones and Simo to start with maybe Horwill or Skelton on the bench, but who knows. Link made some very insightful comments last night when talking about Horwill's involvement in the team. He's a guy that has a bucket-load...

he doesnt strike me as a stand-out choice as captain. iv never met the bloke but he seems pretty softly spoken (and not in the vein of John Eales)

I'm thinkin the fact that they'll be 3 rookie locks in the squad could really motivate Horwill to up his game. He is surely on notice that he could lose his spot in the 23 to the new blokes...hopefully that competition will bring the best out of the group

link discussing the selection of Ryan - "it's a technical exercise. There's some technique things, a few kinks that we need to iron out" -- fuck me that's gonna be a tough slog link

Best case scenerio would be Sio at LH and Slipper at TH. in terms of impact round the field that would rival the allblacks front row (actually if you add Moore it would probably be more industrious than the kiwis)

Yeh I get the feeling that Slipper will be a LH/TH for the world cup. I'd feel more comfortable with Slipper at TH than Alexander

He started off this season with a blinder. He was good last week. I agree he would not be in my starting 15 on current form but he has the ability to outplay Palu on Friday.

I see Growden has been touting Higgers as Wallabies captain. I cant see it on current form. He'd need a huge game this weekend to be considered a contender.

Really happy with the Squad the only outrage I have is Ryan being in the extended training squad in place of Longbottom. The last thing we need to be doing is spending time developing a TH that cant scrummage. Nice to see Speight, Neville and English in the Extended squad. I really like that...

Just because Benn Robinson isn't in this squad doesn't mean he wont be in the WC. He wasn't picked first up last year either, but he finished the year in the starting side. Link knows what he offers. Hopefully it will motivate him to up his game

I think again the likes of McCabe and Horne being named as back three players probably means they are seen as bench options that will provide cover for the outside backs + centre

I'm hoping Beale is being consider as a back 10 / bench player, with Foley as the go to guy. For the world cup our 10s might be Foley and Cooper, with Beale providing coverage. The only good thing about Beale being named at 10 is that we wont see him at 12 and I think it makes more sense for...

Why Patty Ryan is in the extended squad I cant understand. He has been dominated by just about every LH this season

To'omua playing 12 not 10. Beale and Foley at 10!
