    Wallaby Watch 2014

I thought Higgers played pretty well yesterday. He was much more involved than previous rounds. Did some silly stuff but really made an impact on the game and played with mongrel, something we want from our players at test level. McCalman and Cottrell were also very good in a losing effort...

Is playing a 5/2 bench that left field? One of Hooper/Pocock would be on the bench as a backrower. I think most games you can get away with two backs. I was just pointing out that it's worth the risk.

I like that side. Pretty good mix of young and experience. Not sure if skelton is ready to start but i also think we're going to need some big bodies to beat the French. A big reason the tahs have been able to play so much front foot football this season is the likes of Palu and Skelton getting...

If Pocock is back for the world cup i reckon you would play Pocock and Hooper in the same 23. Play a 6/2 bench. If worst comes to worst, Hooper can play in the backline.

This might be an unpopular point of view but I actually think JOC (James O'Connor) is probably the best bench player for the world cup. Leaving aside whether he should be excluded for team culture reasons, he can play 11, 12, 14, 15 and not just at a pinch. in fact, damn well. He's world class 11 and 14, he has...

I think individual and team form often go hand in hand and both have a lot to do with perceptions about which players are better than others. People were talking about Beau Robinson as a Wallaby back in 2011 when he was killing it in a championship winning side. Hodgson is playing down the...

Gill hasn't stood out particularly this year, but that is really part and parcel of him playing in a team that is just not in a good space right now. I'm surprised that people have written off the likes of Simmons, Slipper, Horwill, etc this season however, for the most part the Reds forward...

He'd probably prefer 10 though wouldnt he?

    Wallaby Watch 2014

i have a real concern about the size/weight of our pack this season with the likes of Douglas and Timani no longer available. We probably need a big TH lock so im not sure about putting a guy like jones or fardy at 5. Horwill probably to start and I think Skelton could be an asset this year and...

What happens if (touch wood) izzy is injured. who plays 15 then? Beale probably, but Mogg would certainly be given closer consideration than he is right now

ha maybe. you could also say that To'omua is unlucky that Cooper was a revelation on the EOYT

    Wallaby Watch 2014

maybe a bit unfair to say Moggs finished. his form has been patchy this year. He did outplay Folau in the early rounds. He's outside the squad at the moment, but i wouldn't be surprised if he became a great test player in the next few years. I've never been the biggest fan but he certainly has...

I'm still not sure about Beale as a 12. very good with ball in hand, perhaps even great. However if I was going to rate his effectiveness based on his Super form this season, I'd probably look first to his performances against the top teams. Canes, Brumbies, Sharks. Of those two the Brumbies...

    Reds 2015

here's some suggested solo sports that are sufficiently "douche" for JOC (James O'Connor) - Bowling, Burn out contests. professional Call of Duty tournament, UFC .....please let it be UFC. But seriously would love to see JOC (James O'Connor) play for the Reds but agree it must be for the right reasons

It'll be interesting to see how the tahs go at scrum time this weekend against the Lions. The Lions scrum has probably been the best aspect of their play this season. a good performance from the likes of Robo and Kepu could still see them win a wallaby spot

NRC Law Variations - have your say

such hyperbole. The idea that a small change to the scoring system or stoppage rules etc in the NRC will cause the Wallabies and Franchises to suffer is nonsense. Firstly we currently have no NRC at all, so anything is better for growing our fan base than what we currently have. Secondly, the...

Come off it ChargerWA! Forcing higher fitness levels surely wouldn't damage Australian Rugby Long term. These days team carry 2 extra props on the bench, and they generally only play 20 minutes anyway. extending game time a bit will just mean that reserve props will be brought on a bit...

No way should Beale be in the starting side. Right now I'd be leaning toward Lilo on the bench as he's a better goal kicker.

I agree we need a backup 7 for the WC, but I wouldn't pick one for the test series in June. The back-up 7 at the world cup is likely to be Pocock, and he isn't available until next year. Until then I expect Hooper to be named captain and predict he'll play probably every minute of the series...
