I'm not suggesting to remove Schools. Just to put a damper on the circle jerking that currently forms the basis of junior development. They won't just decide to play a wider range of Schools for the benefit of the sport, that's not in their interest. Two of these Schools ceased playing trials...

Easy, you take control of the rep teams, and insist that to be eligible you have to play for your local club. Watch the kids gravitate to where the prized selections are available. When the school threatens to drop club players to 3's, they won't care & the power is then transferred.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I read sometime back that the SRU have allowed Penrith to field only 2 grades this year. So whilst 3/4's might have played, it's unofficial. It will stop some clubs racking up 130 points against a depleted Riff lower grade team when injuries kick in.

You make it sound like they upgraded Deegan at the same time as signing Mack. They didn't. i don't think it's smart recruiting to consistently have players in your 35 that you don't use for years.

Why? The very fact he signed Mason,was a vote of no confidence in Deegan.

^^^^ He won't win one in first grade, that window has closed for him. But it's academic anyway, I think the bookies have got it hopelessly wrong posting them as favourites this year. They will struggle to make the finals IMO

It's not possible to keep all 110 players & their parents happy, when there are only 45 starting places available. Ever!
