ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

And if he is also vaguely interested in the academic side of education in one of the August institutions seeking marketing glory, good luck explaining that to the MIC of Rugby. One can only wonder at the irony of some of this next generation, having sought but failed to attain sporting glory...

Curious that New has also fallen on (relatively) tough HSC times. When was the last time they came in behind Joeys? Perhaps the dial-a-team palava has proven a huge distraction for the Yr 12 boys in both schools.

What exactly is the issue that CAS needs to address QH? Whilst the odd aspersion creeps into this thread, there seems remarkably little evidence of the dial a team syndrome having taken hold in CAS land.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2013

Your memory is sound HJ. The younger HJ played mainly, and often brilliantly, at fullback. He reads the play extremely well and was very effective at injecting himself at pace into the back line. Kellaway is a great player, but in his absence I'd love to see Jones in the gold 15.

Perhaps the selectors got wind of The Rock's Loig mates eyeing up HJ and thought they'd not let him be led into temptation and decided to deliver him from evil

    Ireland v Australia, Dublin, 16 Nov 2013

h I'm a huge fan of TPN in the scrum and around the park, but they have to get on top of his lineout throwing - another penalty for inability to deliver it down the middle. I know he is just back after a lengthy lay off, but it has been an issue with the Tahs for some time. Good to read...

    CAS Rugby 2014

Bang on MOTH - my understanding is that Knox are offering optional (maybe less optional for 1sts and 2nds) weight sessions and pre season skills to all rugby players. Personally I think boys should be allowed to focus on their summer sports and come back to rugby refreshed and enthusiastic for...

Eaun Clark, head coach for Wests 17s, coached at Knox this year and I understand was involved with Gordon Colts. Seems a knowledgeable and well organised bloke who relates well to the boys.

That would fire my boy up - not so much as in "shit this is good", more "WTF is this shit!"?

    CAS Rugby 2014

WW I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments, but can reliably report that at least some of the 1st XV, incl Van Zyl, are happily and successfully engaged in Knox Water Polo. I very much doubt they will be dropping him from Rugby any time soon.

Quali Quality time with your boy IS - hopefully he's a bit more talkative than mine! A strong looking line up. Special congrats to the brave 13 yr olds that made the 15s squad - they had to pull down some very large 14yo units to get there.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2013

Aust/NZ a thoroughly enjoyable match. Aust certainly had their chances but, as at senior level, the defensive and break down excellence of the men in Black was decisive. With a one man advantage going into the final 15, we should have wrapped it up, but a couple of missed tackles saw the...

    Springboks v Wallabies, Newlands, September 28 2013

The Bokke need to lose the street fighting thuggery and focus on playing the hard rugby they are so capable of. The Darkness will continue to have the Boks measure as their aggression is so much more disciplined.

    Springboks v Wallabies, Newlands, September 28 2013

A lot of criticism directed at Hooper (who didn't have a memorable match) suggests short memories - wasn't he voted by Gaggerlanders as Wobs best player in at least 3 recent tests? Would love him to be 15kg heavier, but I think a bit premature to be putting him on the QF home. Link needs to...

Well your honour, if the rules of your inquisition will permit a relaxation of the hearsay rule for second hand testimony, I was told this by his parents, who are justifiably proud. This and numerous other scholarships are openly known and discussed on the sidelines of GPS and Gordon juniors...

is there any evidence that Knox has provided a scholarship to any of these boys? My understanding is that M.Williams has certainly shaken things up, but it has revolved around hard work rather than plunder.

The way Joey's academic performance has been sliding, perhaps it is. But let that not detract from solid endeavour on the field - assuming we are talking rugby, the 13As finished 3rd losing only to the dial-a-title duo. The basketballers finished 2nd to 'view, astomnshing though it may be.

Correct. Lachlan Cannell was at Killara High when approached to take up a full scholarship for New Years 11and 12. (May also have been last term of year 10 - this was certainly the case with Simon Kennewell)
