And with Cheika having, understandably, parlayed his luck for a reputed 20% uplift on BPs initial offer, it seems we may be headed for $25. Just as well only toffs play Heaven's game.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

As much as I and my son love rugby, I'm really ambivalent about this JGC program (15s). Having played in a no of successful SJC campaigns, and an extended rep program with higher honours this year, he's a bit over rugby, esp training sessions, and keen on an off season playing summer sport with...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

At least 3 from this year's Sydney u14s were waived through. Of these, only 1 from 2013 JGC. Good to see at least some from beyond the most recent clipboard given the nod

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Seemingly, not a large number and at least a few of those are backing up after last year, so are known to selectors. A good no. of boys who played for Sydney this year are heading back on Sunday

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

A hot and tiring 4 hours for North and South Harbour JGC U15s and U17s down at Daceyville this morning. The trials are being run by the Tahs and seemed to be pretty well organised, though I think selectors would struggle to assess quality and form based on the 3 lots of drills and rapid fire...

If there is any evidence around the 'S' word and Knox, you might want to step over to the 'other thread' and elaborate so it can be assessed and responded to.

14s SYDNEY 15 - 0 15s SYDNEY 26 -10 (approx) 16s Draw Scully Park, Tamworth a fantastic, fast pitch, that looked a treat despite heavy rain Sat. Bacon & Egg rolls 9 out of 10 and CJRU did a terrific job hosting the day.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2014

There don't appear to any Wallaby progeny in the squad, and Qld with 6 in the squad v their conquerors, NSW II with 1, would appear to dispel at least a couple of recently espoused truisms. Good luck to all of the boys selected and, in an HSC year, here's hoping they and those left behind...

Looks like they are struggling up in Bellevue Hill. Wonder what a slightly used Hyperbaric chamber would fetch on eBay?

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2014

I heard the same from a disinterested observer. It's a damning indictment on the state of Heaven's game in NSW (and QLD?) when a non GPS lad is seen as a bolter despite playing the house down.

I'd like to know the same thing SLV, hoping that the outcome is nil. But perhaps we will need to raise it on the thread that can't be named. I will say that in some considerable time monitoring that thread there had been little if any evidence of the dial-a-team practice infiltrating CAS...

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2014

U14s final was a fantastic game between ACT and Gordon, the 2 teams who have played structured, running rugby all weekend. At oranges Gordon were up 10-5 and it looked like they might finally get the silverware on the fifth attempt for many in the team. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell...

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2014

U14s a cracker in Orange. It may only be 5c at kickoff time, but you'd be hard pressed noticing with cloudless skies and zero wind. ACT and Gordon look the teams to beat. They play respectively Norths and Illawarra in the semis tomorrow am. All 4 had strong wins in the QFs today, so hard to...

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2014

Correct. Captain M.Basson has withdrawn, presumably with 1st XV and CAS Sydney Nth providing enough rugby. No 12 J.Lough also in doubt with injury. There may well be others

Selection politics and bias, Gold Squads unfairness etc.

Are there rep teams without dads involved? In my experience rep trials are nearly always for 23 spots minus [insert no of boys 'trialling' whose dads are coaches/selectors]. The most galling aspect is that those kids are not always up to it and over 3 days at the JSC the team suffers for it.

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2014

Even if you have (some) independent selectors, they invariably hand over to coaches who are Dads and/ or who have said pre-conceived ideas. Good luck to any boy trying to move in from the cold. It's hard work explaining to boys who have clearly performed well in trials why they are not getting...

Ditto re wrong thread, but that would seem to turn conventional wisdom on its head - to be poached from a school costing $X, having a decent rugby program and strongish academics, to one costing $0.4X, having weaker academics and a similarly decent rugby program, but in a traditionally weaker...

And on the topic of slinging............ - are you seriously suggesting Shore imports it's rugby (or other sporting) talent? Evidence please. - what exactly has Pulver got to do with TSCs penchant for dialling up a team? - what is your point re Riverview Head? - are you saying that the...
