    CAS Rugby 2015

Waves by 5 or 6 over Barker in 15As. Not sure re Murphy. If they are still playing him in Centres I think its a bit of a waste - taking a very good forward out to be an average back.

Can't see where my personal edification came into it. For your personal edification, my points were that no one benefits from 50+ point scorelines and Aust rugby would be better served by more even and testing competition. Disagree if you wish but don't distort the premise

They just got a lot more interesting!!

15s? Waverley has been consistently strongest, followed by Knox and Barker. Trinity and Alloys are not too bad though have usually lost to top 3 and poor Cranbrook get pumped 50+ regularly.

    CAS Rugby 2015

You are probably right that logistics would prevent it, but it would be possible to do what SJRU does every year and grade teams (agreed, it's far from perfect). And would it be so difficult to grade? There tends not to be too much movement year to year - the teams that wins 13As in either...

    CAS Rugby 2015

Probably 15s. Bit of both. Waverley no doubt fired up after losing to Knox last week. Such matches clearly highlight why schoolboy rugby should move to a divisional system across all schools. Who benefits from that result today? Let the strong teams fight it out and the less strong teams...

    CAS Rugby 2015

I agree that it is in poor condition, but with Waverley fees roughly 1/3 of those for Cranbrook, I suspect there's not a lot to splash about on non essentials

Agree re Murphy. Waves 2 tries scored when Knox was down to 14 with yellow card. Otherwise, thought Knox were the dominant side, esp in the backs, and were a bit unlucky not to post 2 more tries down the flanks.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2015

In our district the problem is and has long been the lack of said large and less mobile kids - lean fit young lads as far as the eye can see and not a born bookend to be had. I blame the tendency of ex piggies to marry skinny Nth Shore types thereby diluting the gene pool. What we need is a...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

My boy was given some very good advice from an old hand when overlooked for early rep selection - "you can get angry or you can get better". He took it and yes, he made it, with no parent involvement at rep level. Might be worth considering.

Thanks for your quality input CN. I was asking a question and the only statement was certainly not ill informed, but based on observation over several years. Sorry if your son was overlooked by the parents you speak of. In my experience quality outs over time and the best boys get selected...

Thanks IS. Am I the only one surprised that Rugby pips Mungo in 14+? Would be interesting to see the stats for 17+

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

MT, interested in this as have seen same phenomenon over a number of years with very talented Harlequins teams in particular imploding at 13s. The GPS, CAS and other ISA teams that i am familiar with all seem to be happy enough for their cattle to keep playing Club till at least 15s, presumably...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Not so re NSW 15s OldSchool. The strongest GPS 15As side would have maybe 6 -8 current NSWJRU State Champs players from 2014 u14s. Several of the JGC U15 teams would have 10-15+. I've seen each of the NSW GPS schools in this age group play and think that eg the NH u15s, would beat each by...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

NH v Vic U15s was a fantastic match up as suggested by the close scoreline. Despite giving away an average 10+kg across the paddock, the NH boys took it to the Vics early, with a couple of well constructed tries to no 13 Dominic Easy giving them a 10-8 lead at oranges. The second half saw...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Thanks BSF and RB. Agree best to let them do what they want (is it ever possible to get them to do otherwise?!). I just hope for his sake there are no recriminations in future selections, what with the ARU wanting JGC to be the one true pathway.
