    Waratahs 2021

My issue with Staniforth is his lack of dynamism in the contact. While there are legitimate reasons to take the hit and drop as have been mentioned. It's probably in the minority of his carries where such scenarios apply. He a bit like Paddy Ryan and Ben Alexander when it came to scrummaging...

    Waratahs 2021

But what % of his total runs could feasibly be for the purpose of resetting the play. Because I cannot think of an example of Staniforth actually making metres in contact. Even at club level. At least not in the quantity a 4-5 year professional should.

State of the Union (origin) discussion

That's part of the reason I'm a fan of a Green & Gold Series as opposed to SoU

Below Super 8 there could be the Pacific Challenge Cup or something along those lines. Again hosted in a single country. Split over pools.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

SLAR got up and running this year but Covid intervened. Was was pretty good to watch.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

After watching Super Rugby Au I really couldn't imagine cutting any of our teams. I really want to see the Drua get involved next year so we have an extra game to watch.

    Waratahs 2021

That's exactly what I thought when I read it.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The argument that could be made is that with three highly competitive and in theory successful sides more people would tune int and help raise the value. But it's not necessarily backed up by much evidence.

    Waratahs 2021

I think they mentioned him on the TV game. He looked pretty tall to me.
  10. WorkingClassRugger

    Waratahs 2021

Maybe. But he should be making a few metres in contact every now and then. Watching him on the weekend pretty much every time he took the ball into contact he'd engage the defenders at the line and not make a metre past that. Which frankly isn't good enough given his overall physical presence.

    Waratahs 2021

He has a high work rate. No disputing that. But he still makes little to no impact beyond hitting the defender and then dropping to the ground without so much a leaving a dent in the defensive line.

    Australian Rugby / RA

It's more inclusive. My only issue is for many of the teams from the 'lesser' competitions will only have the one game. But I guess that better than not being involved. I'd actually like to see room in this competition for regional/state rep sides from country NSW/Qld and the likes of the Black...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I definitely prefer the first option over the 2nd and quite like the idea of hosting it on our timezone and would be fine if it was hosted in one location.

RA apparently presenting four models for the National Club Championship. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/the-four-national-club-comps-rugby-australia-will-pitch-to-broadcasters-20200817-p55mkk.html The first is a 32 team, 31 game, knockout competition over four weeks similar to the...

If it is just a NSW vs Qld series then I guess they should consider a 'guest' rule allowing for players from a particular external state to be selected. From what I know of WA Rugby fans they'll happily back anyone against NSW. So WA players could fall in with Queensland while Vic players with...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

That's going to be a tough ask as they'll face Romania for that spot if things remain as they currently sit. A team who'll be very keen not to be relegated.

The one about them being one game from promotion to the Rugby Europe Championship?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Fiji makes the most sense seeing as they have been competing within our structures for 4 or so years now. And they'd be able to provide a pretty competitive squad from the get go much as they did in the NRC. The only issue doing that is if a TT competition is on the books for 2022 as if we were...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I'll have to ask but I think it's a match payment set up in the Netherlands. I know that both the Dutch and Belgian Unions have set up the BeNe Cup with the goal of developing that into a professional competition. The Dutch could actually be the sneaky sleepers in Europe. Several years back...
