Like other recent cases, it probably won't matter if it would have succeeded or not, the cost/risk to RA of fighting through the courts (if it gets to that) will be prohibitive, and it will be cheaper to settle it. Both financial and reputational It would be interesting though. MRRU are voting...

The revenue sharing agreements are all up for renogatiation after the 20225 broadcast deal.

Maybe not all of them “I’m still an amateur, of course, but I became rugby’s first millionaire five years ago.” David Campese (1991)

That's got to give some sort of comfort to Rebels fans. They are prioritising Reb high performance crew over "partnerships and finance" teams. At least for 4 months

Anyone heard how the surface at Suncorp survived Pink in the rain?

That's a great article and good to see the plight of Mick Heenan is highlighted. We have to get better at this development. We can't just chuck out all the assistants too when there is a HC change, especially at Super Rugby level. Highlights once again the disconnect between RA and the Super Rugby team's objectives

The other factor is heaps of our elite/pro players will have eligibility for other countries due to immigration. How much does our pool shrink if we can't offer big enough salaries for them to justify staying here to be captured playing for Australia? Just a whole series of Mack Hansens

If it's genuinely $50m, that's a huge jump from where they were in 2022. Basically $24m on the loan note, and $10m of early payments from WR (World Rugby) for WC which will have been paid back/wiped by now

There are adult tickets available for $20, or $50 for a family of 4 for Reds v Tahs. All junior players get in for free (and Tahs are doing similar for their games) All teams seem to be doing a pretty good job of keeping the cost of tickets down this year

Both Rugby (Football) Union and Rugby League were originally names of rugby football competitions as well. Best not to get too hung up on these things

Sure, but there's a matching non-current lease liability on the Tah's books which balances out the asset. I guess my point is there isn't much point talking about "debt" without talking about assets too - and vice versa

I believe lot of it is financial smoke and mirrors associated with their lease at Daceyville (they don't have to pay their lease for X number of years?)

The Tahs have $24m of assets (at least they did in 2022 - if their public accounts are real). RA's balance sheet will be better off after absorbing the total equity. The Rebels don't have assets, RA's balance sheet can't absorb the negative equity

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

And the Tahs had $24m of assets too, as per their 2022 accounts

I don't think you need to be a financial genius to understand the Super Rugby clubs were struggling. RA, the Reds, Brumbies and Tahs all publish their annual financial statements. You can have a look at their profit/loss and balance sheet every year to see the debt situation. It's somewhat telling that...

What do we do if Schmidt decides Petaia's best role for the Wallabies is at fullback, and wants him playing there but Kiss wants to maximise his team's performance - assessing that the Reds are stronger with Petaia in the centres and JOC (James O'Connor) at fullback? Who gets to decide?

So.....Rodda. I hate to even think it, but is he getting back on the field?

For what it's worth - here is a really basic "strength of schedule" based on each team's number of wins in Super Rugby last year (includes finals) MP (Moana Pasifika) and Waratahs have the hardest schedule - in aggregate, they play teams who had the most wins last year Drua/Brumbies have the easiest Team...

Didn't the last private equity purchaser involved with a Super Rugby licence transaction buy it for $1?

I'm hoping this is just recognizing that coaches for next year will be contracted directly by RA under a centralized model. All new contracts once redundant?
