Yep. Ireland man-of-the-match in the 6 nations after all of 10 club games in the country. Not sure it's the volume of club games that broke you through there Mack!

    This is slightly tongue-in-cheek because I broadly agree, but Mack Hansen's games per year so far are.... 2019 - 1 for Brumbies 2020 - 5 for Brumbies 2021 - 15 for Brumbies 21/22 - 14 for Connacht 22/23 - 14 for Connacht 23/24 - 4 for Connacht (so far)

I think it depends how far away the ball goes when it's dropped, and even how it's dropped. If they tap it back, or the ball travels 5m away, they are clearly put onside Somewhere between the ball going 5m back and dropping it backwards at your feet, they would be put onside - and it will...

BIt exclusionary for the poor old Indian Ocean facing Force though....

Short answer is they aren't allowed to join play. They aren't onside until someone runs them on, or they run back behind someone who is onside. There will be some very fit wingers this year, running up after every single kick putting all the forwards onside

It is a pretty big change, there's likely to be unintended consequence and players who don't know what they are entitled to be doing at particular points in play Potentially, if the last man kicks and then doesn't put everyone else onside (is tackled?), the entire team could be unable to make a...

A player is offside in open play if that player is in front of a team-mate who is carrying the ball or who last played it. The player who is offside is on the kicking team (in front of the kicker). They are put onside after the kick when an opponent (defending the kick) attempts a charge down...

I should have added some qualifiers Dropping the ball in rugby doesn't necessarily put the opposition chasers onside, if you have "possession" And possession is defined as attempting to maintain control of the ball (eg bobbling it) I've had senior refs clarify this, but absolutely agree refs...

League has this in their laws An offside player is placed onside if: (a) an opponent moves ten metres or more with the ball. (b) an opponent touches the ball without retaining it. Dropping the ball in rugby doesn't put the opposition chasers onside

iv) is for the defending team touching the ball in a charge-down attempt - not the receiving team. https://www.world.rugby/the-game/laws/law/10 go to 10.7.b.iv Click play on the video for iv - you can see the the official WR (World Rugby) example is a charge-down attempt

Yeah - it's the "$89.7million to Game Development" that creates the unstoppable monster

I don't think your fringe cases are covered (dropping it would be attempting to bring the ball under control, so not covered by iv, and trapping with your foot is a kick, so covered by iii From the laws definition Possession: An individual or team in control of the ball or who are attempting to...

In the context of Australian rugby though..... There'd be what, 5 or so? Hooper, TT, Rory Arnold, Skelton, Banks Maybe a couple of others?

    iv is for charge downs.

Already getting ridiculous in the six nations. Good change

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

All that is probably true, but for those Rebels directors - overseeing $20m of debt over just 5 years, and losing your own house to the ATO seems a pretty spectacular way of proving it to RA....

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

To be fair, all teams have had a fair cut from 2018 & 2019 days (Rebs were up to $7.5m a year I think), and they now have to fund a (semi?) professional women's team with that grant money as well

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

If reports are true, up to 5 years worth of players and staff taxes haven't been paid to ATO. How is this even possible? How is it a surprise and just coming out now? Surely that has to appear in a financial statement somewhere?

    Wallabies 2024

I'm surprised they aren't looking at a Wednesday night option. Both teams have a week off beforehand.

    Aussie Player Exodus

The player exodus explains a fair bit of that engagement issue though. So many of our high profile players have no domestic visibility (even if they are no longer the best, they are recognisable and marketable)
