Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

Sounds like this was a planned rest / load management thing, especially with his interrupted offseason

Super Rugby: Rd 4, 2024. NSW Waratahs v The Auckland Blues

Sounds like they just want to get some match fitness into Teddy Wilson, he will be playing for Waratahs A v Brumby Runners rather than get a couple of minutes off the bench on Sat

    Crusaders (NZ) Rugby Team Thread.

Has anyone done a welfare check on Rob Penney recently?

    Queensland Reds 2024

Presumably the Reds would quite like to avoid yellow cards as well, so they are avoiding some of these the head-on tackles

Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

I don't disagree. But I don't think it's too short a season for the test players, it's the guys who don't make the Wallabies who aren't playing enough Ireland recognise this too - look at how few games Sexton was playing for Leinster. He only started 68 games over 8 seasons

Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

Healy is being rested from plenty of URC games over the last few years though right? And coming off the bench? Edit - just checked, Healy has played 40 times, and started 9 games for Leinster in the last 3 seasons

Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

Are the All Blacks getting this wrong? Or just shows the different emphasis of the two countries?

    Queensland Reds 2024

Watching that section of play trying to find when the red card tackle was - it was pretty evident just how often the Reds were having to make their front-on tackles on the ball carrier from "above", because the carrier was getting down so low. Like this.... I wonder if that's trained now, to...

    Queensland Reds 2024

Tackle is at 35:05 for those playing at home. I think he was a little bit unlucky as the ball carrier stepped away from Nongorr and into Fa'agasse, but it was probably not just late enough to be a "sudden" change in direction

Fa'agase went off for an HIA!

    Queensland Reds 2024

https://super.rugby/superrugby/documents/judiciary/super-rugby-pacific-rd3-faagase-suspended-for-four-weeks/ There's the judicial report, which doesn't tell us much. Ref and TMO thought there was no foul play, but Judicial officer must have thought there was, as he was cited after the game...

    League Targets

He was always very much a league player who played a bit of rugby at school on the side. Was a backrower in the league aussie schoolboys side

Anyway, Doran at the Roar reporting Lynagh will be rested (HMP in), Petaia and Paisami back via the bench, and Blake in for Fa’agase.

Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

I will bow down to those who have greater knowledge at this than me. It does sound like World Rugby/RA need to review some of this latest research or at least review how it's being applied by All Blacks and others. (And I acknowledge load management may not = resting for games)...

Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

Rest is primarily an injury prevention thing though right? The more matches you play in a row, the higher your chance of being injured (or at least that's how previous coaches have justified it). So if you don't rest players, they will get hurt and give up the the spot anyway

    Super Rugby General Chat

Yeah - there's contracts in place with the broadcasters which mandate which grounds can be used, and what facilities are in place (including things like lighting). For this one, I think the need to have a big screen in place at short notice for the ref / TMO discussions was driving where it...

Round 3: Reds vs Chiefs, 6:45pm AEST - Saturday 9th of March @ Suncorp

Uru went down clutching his head/face just at half time too. A cynical viewer may suggest he was playing for a high tackle penalty which wasn't given, but if you are going to show symptoms like that, then the medical staff have a responsibility to take you off I would have thought. Maybe they...

Round 3: Reds vs Chiefs, 6:45pm AEST - Saturday 9th of March @ Suncorp

Intersting that the medical staff didn't take a more conservative approach with this one. It was a significant blow. Trust the experts I guess..... https://www.world.rugby/the-game/player-welfare/medical/concussion/concussion-guidelines What causes concussion? Concussion can be caused by a...
