    Wallabies 2021

There are risks either way. But I would far prefer to see the coach err on the side of giving domestic players a good go. By the time Hooper comes back, somebody else might have cemented their hold on the 7 jersey.

    Worst Commentator Pole Action

Maybe we should start a new thread. The standard of commentary by the Nine team is really good. Sean Maloney in particular, he is knowledgeable, interesting, always adds something to the vision.

On the other hand, our game is usually built on speed around the park. I reckon it could be LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) at 6.

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

Thorn is teaching his squad to expect the unexpected. Nobody has a "lock" on any position. That is a wonderful situation to be in, because injuries will happen unfortunately.

    Wallabies 2021

According to direct quotes in a newspaper article I read a couple of weeks ago, he revels in the idea of being a tough guy.

Super Rugby RD 7 - Waratahs v Brumbies

The rolling maul is a blight on the game. I know we have been through this before, up hill and down dale, but for the life of me I still cannot work out why the ball carrier cannot be tackled, by hook or by crook. All this choreography is just laughable flim-flam. Fairy floss...

I must have watched a different game to you.

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

Thorn has a pretty good pedigree, played under one of the best coaches I have seen in my lifetime (Wayne Bennett). One very important aspect of his development by QRU would be that they were willing to see this as a long term project, and his reputation (and their knowledge of him as a man, and...

Super Rugby Rnd 7: Rebels v Reds

I imagine Thorn has a lot less to lose, in a sense, than a blow-in like Gibson. Thorn has a great reputation as a footballer in Australia, different code notwithstanding, any decisions he makes come from a position of strength. Gibson was only ever a blow-in, unfortunately.

    Waratahs 2021

Money is one thing, the large number of volunteers required is quite another ball of wax.

    Waratahs 2021

At the moment we are going through a period of huge disruption, it is affecting the game's finances, schedules, logistics, player health (potentially). I doubt that anybody has the time for the intricacies of coaching pathways. To do so requires a reasonably stable planning framework. We do...

    Waratahs 2021

One of the points that Penney makes is that he had been told by Davis that "money would not be a problem" according to the article I read in the SMH. It was this implied promise, made before the pandemic struck, that seems to me to have been a big issue in Penney signing on. Again, I am not...

    Waratahs 2021

So you accept the point. A lot happened that was totally outside the Board's control. I have supported Penney, but I do think it is disingenuous of him not to acknowledge that the impact of a huge financial disaster was a large factor affecting the franchise, and his ability to spend more on...

    Waratahs 2021

Yep, he totally overlooked the onset of a global pandemic when he oversaw the budgeting process.

    Waratahs 2021

Far be it from me to support Davis. I have disliked him intensely ever since his club rugby days. However, we did have a bit of a problem last year. Everybody seems to have kind of overlooked that. Promises that might have been made prior to the onset of the pandemic are hardly grounds...
