Good job KB (Kurtley Beale). Apart from missing Ewan Mawson, BaaBaas #12 (I'm not sure who comes off your list) I think you may have it. I had thought the team manager said 8 new faces but, as you point out, it appears to be 10 - Spencer Leniu was in Syd squad last year, but Sam Lock is new (see 2014 squad at...

Syd u15s have been selected. Unfortunately, the list was read out and is yet to be published, so I can't provide a link or recite all of the names. There were some surprise omissions, and 8 new faces this year, but I think it's a team largely representative of form displayed over both weekends...

IS, i agree that there can be many factors impacting selection and not all of them have to do with current form, with many spelled out over the 35 pages of GGR you linked to. Nonetheless, the Syd U15s coaching team are pretty hard-headed blokes who seem very clear on what they want to achieve -...

I thought Kyle Devine did a good job for MSZ and must be a show for Sydney team. Agree with HW that BaaBaas were probably best team, as distinct from group of individuals, on ground, and were unlucky not to beat MNZ who played a lot of one out rugby (as did most others). You can't put old...

You keep missing the point which is outlined in #242. To avoid the tedium, I don't think any of the Scots boys are in serious contention for any Sydney positions. One made the Syd bench last year, did not produce and is on MSZ bench this year. The other 2 were simply not as good as the...

Perhaps take some time to read the many GGR pages of views on this issue. I think it reduces down to nepotism destroys the fabric of rugby and any other team sport which purports to reward hard work and playing by the rules. It's not a level playing field if it runs up Victoria Road.

I don't think you could possibly dumb it down any further (alas, poor retroic).

I drive a Honda. And why would I want to do pius? What's it done to me? Hasn't your Mum told you to go to bed yet?

Even giving the benefit of the doubt to Souths - that they would have been 3 short at the JSCs and no Souths club players missed out (and despite the apparent evidence to the contrary) - the 3 Scots boys also took 3 slots in the MSZ team over boys who clearly were available and had qualified...

Based on a certain school's predilection for long 'camping' trips I hear. Appalling that kids who put in the hard yards at club level get overlooked in favour of guest appearances by a few would be rock stars.

Think you might want to check St Augs team sheet that day. And Joeys beats RV and gets beaten by St Augs and Knox, so probably not. Don't think there will be a clear result here. Again, my points were: (1) not that the other associations were stronger, but that there was bugger all evidence...

Upthestaggies, a very talented team youve selected and some perceptive commentary from a bloke of your vintage. I think your team breaks down to 13 MNZ, 5 BaaBaas, 4 MWZ and 1 MSZ. Based on Mudgee form and 3 of the 4 top team being MNZ, that seems about right, but I wonder if the politics of...

Agree QH, its entirely possible. But the proof is in the eating rather than in positing that the pudding would be excellent if only it existed.

ISA (Joeys went down to Augustines 4 tries to 2 on the weekend they were scheduled to play Scots 15A) or CAS (Knox beat Joeys and New in trials last time they played - yes i do know that athos were out. Waverley and Knox are 1 all in 15A match offs). I'm not claiming that either of these...

15A ones would be a good start. If a team hasn't played any 15As, how can they be a good thing to dust one (Waverley) that has with some success?

Which predictions? Cant see where I've made any other than it should be a great tournament.

Im sure the MSZ boys will give it all they've got at the Regionals. They are somewhat disadvantaged in that the squad is entirely drawn from one A Div team which has yet to score a point at that level, another which has only been successful against the wooden spoon holder and another that...

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2015

Suspect you are right KB (Kurtley Beale), though a no. of the Baabaas will have a point to prove having missed selection in their primary Regional team and will be very competitive. They could make life difficult for MNZ. MWZ will also have learned the lessons of Mudgee in that you cant play tournament rugby...
