Agreed. I'd be going with Cameron/Towns as centre combination. You want strength, penetration and defensive capability mid field against what will be some formidable opposition centre pairings. Ilias is a handy FH but he doesn't have the penetration of the other two. Di Sano played back up...

@TJ, thanks for solving that mystery - Alex seems to be the preferred #7 option. Any other suggestions for the #2 slot?

@jeff thomson, good addition re #3 and your 12/13 change may be the answer. I think Aloys had a decent 7, but don't know his name and cant be certain I have that correct. Any Aloys supporters shed some light? Any candidates for #2? Knox has Sean Kennedy who played for Syd this year but in...

Hard ass forwards? "I'm loving these new lycra jerseys Dan, but do I look fat in mine?"

@SDW "Re the under 15 flash # 8 . being airdropped . bet it is into Trinity, although Cranbrook needs it most given this age group will coincide with their centenary celebrations." I reiterate, it's only a whisper and there are no inducements involved. If happens, full fees will be paid, and...

@ Harry 247 "Towns is a centre isn't he? And you would think there would be a few more Barker boys in there" This is (fantasy) team selection by popular vote, so if you have any specific Barker names or positional changes add below. I note that 3 of 15 starters from a team that finished bottom...

    There's a lot of players I don't know across the different schools, esp South Harbour, but heres a few possibles to get the ball rolling: 1. James Frear (K) 2. 3. 4. Alex Trobec (K) 5. Harry ? (B) 6. Tadgh Murphy (W) 7. 8. 9. Dave Tejcek (B) 10. Josh McInerney (K) 11. Max Towns (W) 12. 13...

Dave Tejcek, from this year's Barker, Gordon, Syd and NSW U15s. Will be yr 10, so Barker will get several years of excellent service from him.

The Waves leaguies play a reasonable game of rugby and they have a few forwards with requisite mongrel to rip into opposition packs.

@HJ "Talent, attitude, application, fitness, a decent growth spurt or two and luck are all needed in fairly equal quantities."

@Jeff Thomson, hard to say whether they'll be good enough to get over GPS or ISA (or indeed HJ whether any will see rep or even 1sts selections at Opens level!), but there were some handy players in CAS 15s this year. Just from the Nth side of the Harbour in 2016 there should be 9 players from...

@BrumbieJack, but it hasn't remained corked everywhere else. A no. of the GPS schools have adopted the same approach and even where teachers remain coaches, the program for most is semi-pro. In addition, other CAS schools have focused on building strength in other sports. Knox is quite a...

And I agree it would be preferable if all schools stayed firmly planted in that purely amateur era. But I think the genie has escaped the bottle and is unlikely to return to be recorked. Perhaps it was inevitable that at least one of the CAS schools would jump on the GPS bandwagon and try and...

Hmmmm. Having witnessed some curious interpretations from the refs at Death Valley on occasion I'm not sure that Waves should be looking to play the 'we wuz robbed' card too often.

Do you mean on the day or the season? I may well be mistaken but thought Knox 16As had only lost 1 over the 10 rounds.

I agree with some of what you are saying, but I don't believe that Joeys' historical success in rugby or Shore's in rowing has disinclined other teams from competing against them. Rather, it sweetens any victory achieved.

Anyone know final A team standings below opens? I know 15As season went to Knox with a hard fought 22-21 win over Barker in the local derby to see them finish with only one loss over the 10 rounds
