    NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2015

    There's an interesting comparison between GPS and Club teams being played out at the moment, with Kings 15As playing in the Club A comp as Beecroft. They have been well drilled and pretty competitive, but have only had a solitary 1 point victory over other top 5 teams and lost the other three...

    NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2015

    May be the wrong thread for this discussion, but I heard the same thing. Extraordinary that no B players were available to step in, though as I understand there was no injury, just an area where Scots were weaker. Unlike in Club rugby where the team going uncontested has to drop a man and play...

    CAS Rugby 2016

    Sounds like a strong option - CAS will need all of the tough, experienced rugby forwards it can get to combat what will be a big, physical GPS pack. If he also plays 4 (@jeff thomson) and 6 does he call/jump in the line out?

    CAS Rugby 2016

    I wasn't comparing them, but agreeing with @jeff thomson's comment that the coach is likely to influence team composition. Separately, I imagine that with W coaches this year, the coaching team next year will be from one of the other 5 schools and I like the structured rugby Aloys 15As have...

    Where does it say there is anything wrong with him?

    CAS Rugby 2016

    @jeff Thomson, I think you are right. This year's CAS U16s had 2 Waves coaches (Coleman and O'Donnell) and 6 of the starting side (along with K - 5, C - 3, T - 1) http://www.cas.nsw.edu.au/home/winter-sports/rugby/representative-teams/ Not blaming the coaches, but with 2 losses and a draw I...

    CAS Rugby 2016

    @JT I'm not questioning Town's ability and he is in my starting team, just a question of whether as 13 or 11. Cameron and Byron H-D have proven game breaking ability over several years at rep level alongside and against the GPS, ISA, CHS and CCC players who the CAS U16s will be up against next...

    Moretti and Murphy are both in my team. Cameron is NSW U15s, so you may take the view Towns is a better player, but some good judges , selectors and GGR followers, obviously see things a bit differently.

    Thats my issue as well and why I like Frear and Trobec - both experienced long term rugby forwards who know their stuff and have played alongside many of the GPS and ISA forwards at club and rep level for years.

    I think he is/was a national 100m runner

    CAS Rugby 2016

    No, but Knox finished top school in 15As, so it seems reasonable that they might end up with slightly greater representation based on form this season. Waves have a good number also. Feel free to nominate others if you don't think Frear and Trobec are the best options. Both played for Gordon...

    Unlike you to be cynical when it comes to the administration of Heaven's Game QH :-) Indeed they did play. Bigger frying fish than Burraneer v Newport perhaps?

    Did he play OC? Need good defence to be an OC. May be safer to leave Towns there and play BHD on wing

    NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2015

    Well, Burraneer played on the weekend for a rare and no doubt much appreciated victory. Guess who was not a part of it? Yes, the 3 Scots/Souths players who now cannot possibly honour their 4 game minimum commitment. 1 of them has played zero and the other 2 have played one game each. I trust...

    CAS Rugby 2016

    @Konbar, I forgot about Byron H-D. He was very effective on the wing for ACT at JSC in 2012-14. I haven't seen him play since moving to Syd last year, but if he is the regular OC for Trinity 16As I'd back his selection. If he plays wing I'd leave Towns at 13 and put Byron at 11. Personally I...

    @Init2Winit, are they included in the following?: 1. Frear (K) 2. Spalding (A) 3. Bullen (B) 4. Trobec (K) 5. Moretti (W) 6. Collison (B) 7. Rahme (A) 8. Murphy (W) 9. Tejcek (B) 10. McInerney (K) 11. Illias (T) / Watson (K) 12. Cameron (K) 13. Towns (W) 14. Shariat (K) 15. Basheer (B) 16...

    CAS Rugby 2016

    @Harry247, agree Waverley U15s are a very good side and played a great game v Knox 2nd round - I wouldn't argue if they ended up with more than 4 in CAS U16s. Note though that Knox had 5 boys in that day who had just completed successful and exhausting state champs campaigns for Gordon. They...

    CAS Rugby 2016

    @JT Cranners have struggled since U13s. Not sure how many games they have won in the 3 seasons, but would be very few. Regularly defeated by margins of 40-50. Consensus so far appears to be: 1. Frear (K) 2. Spalding (A) 3. Bullen (B) 4. Trobec (K) 5. Moretti (W) 6. Collison (B) 7. Rahme...

    Cam Fish is at Rview. Not sure re Biviano but didn't think it was a CAS school

    CAS Rugby 2016

    Yep I'd go with Flaherty - plenty of size right now and if he fires up is very difficult to stop. I can't recall Edmed well but if he can kick competently and reliably that would be a bonus so wouldn't argue. Not as sure re Towns service at Waverley, but plenty of ball to Knox wingers this...
