Last year I would have thought Kelly was mad if he'd picked Ford at 10 as I thought he had a tendency to panic under pressure and take poor options. But this year it's as if he's suddenly grown up and has argueably been our best player from week-to-week along with Connor and Maafu.

It will be interesting to see how much game time Kellaway gets in the U20 World Championship and how (and where) he plays when he returns. I suspect he could play anywhere in the backs except 9. Bit strange that Hanigan goes from 1st Colts (2 games?) into 1st grade for 5 games and then back...

    Shute Shield 2014

If Souths, Eastwood, Uni, Manly and Warringah win tomorrow there will be a big gap between Souths (5th) on 25 or 26 points and Wests (8th) on 12, 13 or 14 points. With Parra and Wicks sitting in the middle. Early days with still 11 rounds to play, but I'd suggest the current top 5 are almost...

Or does this mean we already have the 3rd tier in place ie the league NSW Cup competition?

Your theory would carry more weight if Cheika played Bread on the wing and released Carraro to the Wicks instead of having two wingers on the bench ;)

Yes I have, why is he on the outer with the Waratahs?

    Shute Shield 2014

Apart from Peter Betham's broken foot ;)

    Shute Shield 2014

My mind goes back to that great referee character Flip Westhuizen who wasn't above giving the finger to members of the crowd who heckled him and also wasn't above telling them in no uncertain terms why he was right and they were wrong. Flip was always entertaining and (I think) was popular with...

    Shute Shield 2014

Adding to the various posts above about refereeing, I've thought for some time that part of the problem is the lack of and / or poor signalling by refs to indicate why they've made a decision. If the signals were clearer and were always made consistently I suspect some of the crowd problems...

Agree about Kellaway and Roods continues to impress also. Kellaway is in the Aust u20's team so he'll be away for a few weeks.

Scrum will look better with Faleafa in the 2nd row alongside Eden-Whaitiri and Asa back in the front row.

My tipping's been 100% correct so far this year -- mind you I don't record them until 5pm on Saturday afternoon ;)

    Shute Shield 2014

I agree about Penrith. They have some big mobile forwards and backs who can create try scoring opportunites. They just need to improve the basics ie set plays and discipline and probably develop some self belief. I'd be worried about their depth though. I few injuries in 1sts will challenge...

    Shute Shield 2014

I agree Pete. If the Wicks can't win at home with that team on the park they can forget the top 6 this year.

Stephen Hoiles is apparently playing for Randwick.

    Shute Shield 2014

He was big and fast, but turned slowly (and unwillingly) in defence and had a tendency to try to kick and chase rather than run when he played at Randwick. Apparently he ran into Visa problems and a drink driving disqualification in England and was cut by Exeter as a result. He's been playing in...
