The Ones to watch in 2011

OK...It's getting close and we're all getting a little excited. Last year we saw the breakthrough of the Fainga'a twins and Rod Davies, the rebirth of Kurtley Beale as a fullback, and the emergence of Kane Douglas, Pat McCabe and Israel Dagg. Who will be the finds of 2011? Bold predictions...

    Waratahs 2011

So what's the story with Eddie Breddanhamm(sp?)? I thought he was being nurtured as future halfback stock by the Tahs?

Well, they're off to Cairns tomorrow ahead of the Saturday game so I assume they will do the same for Darwin. Which means you should be able to watch them train. As for starting sides, I think TOCC is pretty close. I have heard that Houston and Tapuai are second half starters.

Agree that Fainga'a needs to improve his throwing and don't know enough about scrummaging to comment on his ability there, but given he only gives away weight to TPN and Moore, is it about technique? Also reckon he pulls his weight in open play. Nice mix of potential and experience in the...

    Reds 2011

The major vulnerability for the Reds this year is at 10. if Cooper gets injured. Other than that I see strength and depth across the park. The recruitment of Robinson and Coridas in the off season will prove to be a masterstroke.

Trial game this weekend..exciting stuff! Be interesting to see whether the Wallabies in the group are rested or not. Have to think Horwill and Ioane might get a run to shake off cobwebs.

The best XV of players from any school

Was Laurie Lawrence a 7. at school? I thought he was a backup 9 to Catchpole for the Wallabies?

World Test XV 2010 - Team Announced

Sharp had a cracker of a season and deserves his place. Moore probably a little fortunate. Smith a no brainer at 13..excellent player.

The best XV of players from any school

Brisbane Boys College (BBC) have a few handy players in Horwill, Genia, John Roe and Roger Gould (I think) to name a few.

Buatava was quite sensational at school from what I saw. What was Fullerton-Smith like at rugby?

    QLD GPS Rugby 2011

I don't know if it has already been posted on G&G, but I read not long ago that Browning is the grandson of Dick Marks, the former Wallaby. Pretty impressive bloodlines.

OK, from the Reds website - Hanson 181 cm (5'11" in the old measure) and 103 kg. Fainga'a 187 cm (just under 6'2") and 105 kg. The one thing that surprises me is Fainga'a's height, didn't think he was that tall. Even though neither are beasts they dont appear to be too lightweight. What are...

How light is he? Didn't he win King of the Gym a month ago? That would mean he is at least pretty strong.

Player of the Year: 3-2-1 Wallabies v France, Paris

    3. Mitchell (hattrick and strong in contact) 2. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 1. Moore. Thought Barnes went well too.

Unneccesarry Rothschild. You asked him to back up his statement, which he duly did, whatever the merits of the GC bulletin.

    Quade Cooper and Summer Digressions

but what gets up my nose on these forums, is people who condemn players who have more talent in their little finger than the condemner has in his whole body... people whose whole attitude is one of negativity... we just beat the best Rugby team in the world and they still spew out their half...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championship 2010

Agree with some of your post Rothschild however, on Ben Tapuai.... I believe he has more all round talent than Johannsen. He can cover 10 to 13 although his best position is 12. His strengths are that he is an exceptional tackler and he can bust the line. He also has quite good hands. I reckon...

Beau Robinson turned up at Reds training yesterday. Not sure in what capacity but I reckon he is a very astute pick up by Link.

    Unsigned Super Level Players

Right, a Brisbane Comp perspective. To start with I would say that James Charalambous (hooker) and Matt Brandon (flyhalf) from Easts, are two guys who have the ability to step up to the next level, if given opportunity. I'm sure there are others.

(Posted this in the Tah's thread but probably more appropriate here). I've seen this kid play over the last few years and have been impressed, particularly as he has made it all the way to the top of the Schoolboy tree from CSS. It would be good if Qld could give him something but with Cooper...
