Springboks v Wallabies, Loftus Versfeld, Sun 9th Jul 1.05am AEST

At a stretch I can see some similarities with a Quade/ Hodge and Smith/ Farrell axis that might be appealing. Theres obviously a difference in quality though; we can expect Hodge to run hard, make his tackles and not do a whole lot more.

    Qwerty's a size guy.

    Wallabies 2023

Let’s see how many caps he gets for France.

    Wallabies 2023

The solution is that Australian rugby needs to be more profitable so it can retain more talent- no one seems to be able to solve that one though. I also don’t think that losing one average behemoth is the end of the world. There’s a bit of a fetish with size at the moment because Skeltons found...

    Wallabies 2023

I don’t think it’s that complicated- dedicate a whole lot of time and effort, with some nutritional supervision, and wait the 2-3 years required to get them appropriately fit. Again- money.

    Wallabies 2023

Everyone who knows anything about this story/ player would be aware that he received plenty of opportunity. He might have had potential but was hardly a world beater in Shute Shield/ NRC.

I'll see myself out - regardless don't see him providing anything more than depth.

    Wallabies 2023

Are we really that worried about a guy who has never played for the Wallabies nor is a realistic contender to be in the 23?

    Wallabies 2023

Have you ever seen him pass the ball or set someone up?

    Wallabies 2023

Great response- my point was the difference in quality and effectiveness between the two yet ones in the Wallaby squad.

    Wallabies 2023

High workrate but pretty limited - he's strong in contact but no kicking, passing or exceptional finishing ability.

    Wallabies 2023

Amazing to think that Donaldson can make the Wallabies squad but Jake Gordon can’t. I know which one offers more to Waratahs and would prefer to have in my team.

    Wallabies 2023

Flyhalf is a pretty easy selection for mine; Cooper starts at 10 and Gordon wears the 22 jersey. If Quade is out (which unfortunately is pretty likely at some stage), then Foley starts at 10 and Gordon retains the 22 jersey. I don't think there's any need for Quade and Foley in the same 23.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Proctor is an upgrade on Hodge at 13 - good signing.

You don’t think Petaia is a potential point of difference in attack?

    Wallabies 2023

Surely a guy who has started multiple tests at 13 for the Wallabies would be a viable bench option in the position (Petaia).

    Wallabies 2023

You’ve said this before and I’m not sure it’s necessarily true. I don’t think there’s a huge difference between a centre combination of Hodge / Ikitau and Ikitau/ Petaia. Alternately Hodge on the wing is a genuine waste of a position.

Super Rugby 2023 QF: Blues vs NSW Waratahs

    Better than Tom Wright?

    Wallabies 2023

Sexton is still clearly first choice- Foley isn’t.

    Wallabies 2023

Honestly I judge this from performances across both Super Rugby and in Tests. The players you mentioned are the top performers across Super Rugby and are generally strong in Test match rugby. Whites early test career wasn’t great but has improved since he came back from the UK. Foley was very...
