Waratahs V Brumbies. Sydney Olympic Stadium.

I reckon Deans would be pretty depressed about the game last night, the conservative mindless tactics, the sloppy execution, the lack of continuity but most importantly the poor form of 2009 Wallabies like Moore, Chilshom, Giteau and Elsom. The only mitigating factors are the injury lists...

the sharks don't even spend their salary cap. MAkes cheating irrelevant really unelss they are very dumb, or would that be very clever?

    Shute Shield 2010

Souths have signed Gareth Morton this week and he is at 12 this weekend. Morton played league and union in Britain, and was named in the Scotland squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, but injuries prevented him playing. Souths are down a lot of quality from last wekeend and I think they...

Free to air Super rugby is back!

You can't help but think that Nine and News both have a strong vested in interest in keeping S15 rugby off free to air given their respective investments in NRL and foxtel. I have the feeling that this latest agreement means that future free to air coverage is even less likely now than in the...

The run home: the comp gets serious

I think the current top 3 will still be there, the order will depend on the outcome of the head to heads but I think they will win enough of the other games to stay in the finals race. I have a bad feeling that Aus teams are going to spoil each other and the blues will come through into the finals.

    Shute Shield 2010

I woundlt have thought so, but given the QRU financial situation I would suggest that anything is possible. I doubt this will be a big deal - probably 2 or 3 fringe or junior players will play one or two games at some point or time, but that could make a big impact for Southern Districts as they...

    Shute Shield 2010

The local rag has an updated team for souths this weekend including Radke Samo - former Wallaby/Brumby. Souths have also created links to the Qld Reds. Articles are below (from www.theleader.com.au) - first time ever that souths have pushed both the Dragons and Sharks off the back page. Gentle...

    Waratahs 2010

Medical staff for luck? Maybe both. One of the reasons why I don't bother following the NRL is that injuries play such a key part in dteremining the finalists each year, its almost a game of survivor.

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Re: Rebels deadline ends, update here on what you hear. Wasn't it SNK and Lachie Turner who replaced Hewatt (depending on whether you considered him a 14 or 15)? Hewatt was much less effective in his final year, the oppositions had worked him out. The speaker phone incident was terrible though...

    Shute Shield 2010

Souths fees for 2010 are $275, seemed very pricey to me but I haven't played for 10 years now.

G&GR Waratahs Player of the Match (versus Crusaders)

    3. Waugh, vintage performance 2. Beale, in everything and looked most likely to make the game winning play 1. Dunno, Horne for the try I guess but no strong contenders really.

    Crusaders v Waratahs. Christchurch.

My thoughts exactly, the loser of this game will find it very difficult to secure a home semi unless other results miraculously go their way. Palmer is playing for souths this weekend so it will be Kepu waddling on.

    Shute Shield 2010

Re: 2010 NSW Club Rugby IS there any prospect that Mitchell will seriously end up playing for Balmain in 3rd div subbies? Also, were did dud roodt end up?

    Crusaders v Waratahs. Christchurch.

They will both drop out. I would love to see Alcock have 20 mins up against Richie late in the game, but it would be harsh call to pick him ahead of Mowen (assuming Dennis stays in the starting 15) especially as Mowen covers more positions.

The run home: the comp gets serious

I think the table will be bulls, crusaders, tahs and one of the blues/chiefs/reds (most likely the blues in my opinion). This assumes the crusaders win this weekend, otherwise the tahs will sneak into 2nd. The brumbies will probably end up with 4 losses and miss out on BPs.

Thanks for the insights WJ, was very interesting

Tom Carter - love him, loath him or something in between?

Carter held the winger back when we scored our last try. I thought the cheetahjs winger was justifed in venting a bit and a lot more would have been made of it had it of been a close game. Watch the foxtel highlights (1.38 min) and you can just see carter holding him back in the corner of the...

By Grinch, I mean your determined to take the fun out of the tahs results. But heh its working as the tahs keep winning so keep it up. McCaffery and Carter were the only reserves who didn't get atleast 20 mins last night. Re McCaffery, that was probably because Alcock and Mowen were playing...
