    Shute Shield 2014

Special mention to the veteran Big Show who played the 1st half for the Wicks and 2nd half for Gordon. Great rugby man :)

Really? Is he coming back? Has he been playing half somewhere? Where?

    Shute Shield 2014

I'd like to applaud the effort of the referee in the 4th grade Wicks v Gordon game. Gordon could only muster 12 players (the Wicks lent them a couple so there could be a game) and they were clearly outgunned in all departments with a couple of grey heads making up the numbers. The referee could...

George, as I've said before -- we have the players, what's lacking is teamwork and self belief. Not easy to achieve these qualities with the injury toll and the resulting fact that we still haven't had the same backline for 2 games all year.

Pete, IMO the bold line (above) was the game changer. Horwitz needs to take on the line and once he does the other players need to support him as he can create scoring opportunities.

The club certainly has some good number 7s. TC's young brother Sam looks very impressive also and only Johnson's great form is keeping him in Colts 2s IMO.

    Excellent question....only time will tell!

I agree. Whilst I agree completely with free speech and am against wholesale censorship the best way to treat bigotry is to ignore it. Without an audience they soon move on.

Or are Easts problems partially due to their coach's departure after a few rounds? Is my memory failing me or is this not the second time Bakewell has left mid-season?

Those who criticise Horwitz should remember this kid (he's only 19) came straight from school to 1st grade. He's never played Colts or even a lower grade game as far as I know. Sure he's got a long way to go and he's clearly not a S15 player at this stage, but every time I see him play I notice...

    Shute Shield 2014

There was a post previously (possible on the Galloping Greens thread) which confirmed both were injured. Although Horwitz's injury was only minor he was apparently withdrawn by the Tahs.

This is the starting team for last Saturday according to the NSWRU website: http://www.nswrugby.com.au/NSWRugby/ShuteShield/DrawsResultsLadders/ShuteSheild(1stGrade)Ladder.aspx (ie click on the little symbol to the left of the Manly v Wicks score) Could someone who was at the game please let...

How about as a player / coach: Melon and Warwick Waugh in the 2nd row:)

    Galloping Greens

We've tried Tim Kava, James Holbeck, David Knox, John Maxwell (2012 when I think he was press ganged into the job), and a few others whose only qualification seems to have been that they were ex players. It needs to be someone who is selected on their coaching creds, not just because they played...

Thanks Lily! I wish him well, IMO he's a very good all round player and a loss to the Wicks.

Randwick has a tradition of only appointing coaches who have played for the club. Unless we can talk Todd Louden into coming back (instead of moving to the Rebels) or unless there's some other ex-player out there with a secret, highly successful, coaching record, surely it's time to dump the...

    Shute Shield 2014

Windon's scored 5 tries in 1 and a bit games for St Pat's so far, but they already have a reliable goal kicker.Eli Baillie is also rumoured to have left and gone to Drummoyne. Add those 2 to the 14 or 15 backs with 1st grade experience who are out injured and you can see why the Wicks are in...
