    Shute Shield 2014

Lots of rumours but shortage of facts. I thought he was the "buy" of the year after the early rounds. Not sure why he was dropped to 2nds, but his form certainly fell away once he was in seconds IMO. He's clearly too good a player to be playing subbies but the rumour is that he'll be back at...

Can someone who was at Manly on Saturday please confirm whether Horwitz and Kellaway played? According to the team lists in the results section of the NSWRU website they both played, but this has been wrong before.

He might be too busy once he owns the Waratahs :D

I meant oldest coach now as the current crop all seem to be fairly young.

At 68 he'd easily be the oldest SS coach.

    Shute Shield 2014

According to the NSWRU, the 2nd round of the finals series is: Game D = highest ranked winner v highest ranked loser (from round 1) Game E = 2nd ranked winner v 3rd ranked winner (from round 1)

Thankfully the game is not relying on just you to be it's custodian and there are plenty of other people with voices who seem to have a marginally more positive view point.

About 2.5 games for the Wicks from memory.

Thanks Macca. Deegan's not named in the Colts, but maybe he's on the bench.

This week's teams: http://www.randwickrugby.com.au/rugby/grade/teams/4220-ound-15-v-manly-grade-teams No TC, Walker or Deegan -- all injured? If this team is the actual team that takes the field it will mean Goodbody is the only player to start in every game so far this year. Tevita Vea up from...

Opportunity for Harris IMO his best position at 6.

Would create some interesting challenges to enforce it. Given the fact that "payments" (in various forms) were impossible to police during the amateur era I don't see how this could possibly be controlled.

Disappointing -- I thought he showed great promise. These guys leaving is certainly going to make it hard for the lower grades to make the playoffs as well as 1sts.

And we stupidly thought the SS was the 3rd tier --- how could we have been so wrong? ;)

    Shute Shield 2014

I guess that's the downside of signing with the interstate franchises. At one stage, the Reds and Tahs were the only teams which insisted on interstate players playing with local clubs, but then the Brumbies followed under Jake White and now the Force and Rebels as well apparently. I can...

    Shute Shield 2014

Macca, I think you're on the money. IMO if Randwick beat Gordon, Norths and the Rats they will probably make the play offs. If not, they'd have to rely on for and against v Parra. But a couple of teams (notably Easts and Gordon) have shown themselves capable of upsets so I think there's still a...

    Shute Shield 2014

Not sure about the Rebels but I think the Force players have to play for Perth based clubs. The premier comps in Perth and Melbourne are both aligned with the SS in Sydney (ie all three GFs are on 16/8) so this could have an impact on whether players are released back to their Sydney clubs if...

They haven't pulled their players out as I understand it. They're just not committing the club financially.

1 game in 3rd grade, 2 in 2nd grade before his only first grade game v Souths. Back to 2nd grade after that. Only played against Souths due to an injury to the mightly Toa Asa.

There were some nice cameos of the old magic in the game against Wests last week. Hard to build the combinations when the same backline hasn't played for 2 games yet -- and I don't mean 2 consecutive games, I mean 2 games!
