Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

With the talk of Deans, it's funny to think that in the not too distant past we were discussing how Link was building his squad for RWC2015. There's no right or wrong to selecting 2 or 3 hookers. Teams have gone to WCs with both. If I were a betting man though, I'd say Link would've selected...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Haha it's day 1 of the squad announcement and already some on here are repeating what they posted earlier! If one of the props can play hooker then that's fine. That player is likely to be a bench option for the Uruguay test with TPN starting. To me that doesn't seem so outrageous. Yes...

Were there any "unlucky" Tahs players. Just throwing that [hand grenade] out there..... :)

a prop and a hooker getting injured between a team selection and kickoff is pretty rare based on my last 30 years of watching rugby. Not saying it couldn't happen but I don't ever recall it happening.

It appears Cheika has basically picked two XVs plus an extra prop. Some internal practice matches going on

If that is the case KOB then that's fine. If he can be aback up option for a pool game or two then I don't see an issue with it. Same as Giteau.

Further to that qwerty, when Umaga went down injured in 2003 against Italy, the ABs had Norm Maxwell relaxing on Manly beach ready to step into the squad should a decision be made to officially rule him out. He was never ruled out, but that is another story. From what I recall, the thinking...

Unfortunately there's not enough time, because he's currently in a course to be the back up 1st 5 :)

Forfeit??? I don't think so. There must be someone that can play in that role should one of Moore or TPN pull a hammy in the warmup. If that were to happen then that player would be able to be replaced before the next test match. Looks like Hanson will be waiting should that occur.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I think the only mystifying selection is not having a 3rd hooker as insurance. OZ have 3 pretty tough pool games and in my view Moore and TPN were going to be in those tests regardless. A third hooker would've been very useful to start and possibly play 80 in the other pool match. The other...

If JOC (James O'Connor) gets selected I think for the good of all, this forum should be shut down......

    The League Media

It was a cornerback that eventually got him so that won't be too much of concern given how quick those guys are. The two keys were that he got past through the line of scrimmage and then beat the first defender in a one-on-one situation. What happens after that is just a bonus.

Bledisloe #2 - AUS v NZL, Eden Park, Auckland, August 15th

They both think Giteau is a halfback option..... :)

Cooper will be fine I reckon. The only concern is against the ABs where you'd be inclined to follow a similar formula to last week where To'omua comes on as an impact sub and you have the forwards muscle up.

Although Benaud, isn't Genia in the "awful" camp given what he dished out before his injury was very poor?

It would be quite surprising if Lilo made it given he hasn't featured in what has been the highly rotated area of 10/12 and bench options.

Everyone has their role and I thought Coles played his well. The other forwards got stuck in as well.

Eh? He still hit plenty of rucks and cleaned yellow jersies out. Him and Read are the two forwards that play out wide. Not that unusual for our setup

Good post louie. There definitely was some strange selections from my perspective. I'll await qwerty's response who so boldly said Cheika picked a side to "win the test". Why change a winning team I say. Pooper was looking the goods. Mumm and Horwill brought some decent heat last week. And...
